The most difficult days are the ones when grief slaps us in the face. The thoughts of losing someone battling a terminal illness, the realization your life might not be what you dreamed it to be because of a loss, the betrayal in a marriage, losing a child, putting up strong boundaries with a mother who could not mother you. The list is endless. Our monthly Grief and Gratitude group is a quiet, slow moving opportunity for you to lay it down on your mat and let the hard feelings go. Breath work, reflections through poetry sprinkled throughout slow movement and time for rest make our time together complete. Sign up online The Homestead 1854 events page. Only $10 donation. This morning is for anyone dealing with loss. Hope to see you there!

Healing seems to happen when we least expect it. I’ve been practice yoga daily for the last few weeks and suddenly today I felt it. The strength building again in my body, my breath deepening, my mind settling. All at once I felt my body there at that relaxation place that is meditative and fully present with me! We can always begin our practice again. And sometimes we’ll find our beginning is what we recognize the most as we being to move toward the light.

Whose doing yoga this Sunday? I’m practicing at home with a focus on letting things go. How about you? What’s your practice about today? Even five minutes of movement and breath can help.

One of my biggest life lessons as a caretaker is I must keep taking care of myself. When I let my daily self-care habits go then suddenly I am lost. This January I’m focusing on wintering. Finding the spaces to just be and breathe. Yes, I’m working and doing my day to day but I’m also taking some moments to do things for myself. Make myself a healthy meal, read a bit, do yoga for 10 minutes, or find the best essential oil for my mood. These daily habits support me in the chaos of life and then life suddenly doesn’t feel so heavy.

What daily habits are you doing that ground you and bring you back to you?
