In these times that try to divide, may we remember we share more in common than naught.
The traditions of Passover and Easter are closely linked, a reminder that while beliefs and labels may differentiate, at the core, there is still much that is the same. In these times that seek to divide, rather than unite, perhaps we may pause to ask what we share in common with our neighbor? Our coworker? People passing by? At the core, we are all still human, making our way through this journey of life, with its ups and downs, twists, turns and surprises.
It was when I read 'Radical Acceptance,' by Tara Brach that I became starkly aware that everyone, yes, everyone, is going through some type of challenge. We all walk through life masquerading as if everything is okay, but just below the surface, there is something that each person holds in worry, care, concern. It might be about a loved one, or mental health, or needing to lose weight, or heartbreak, or finances, or a sense of safety... In honoring that at any given moment, every person has something to share about what's weighing on them, it may just evoke opportunity to soften, be kinder, hold compassion and empathy. And in that, we recall our common human condition, and maybe let differences subside, allowing connection to blossom.
For those who are celebrating this holiday season, we send our wishes for joy, light and hope. And for those not celebrating this season, we equally send our wishes for joy, light and hope. May the light within us all shine brightly! Namaste! ~ Jen Rizza, Founder of Newtown Wellness Collective, Reiki Master Teacher, Therapeutic Yoga Teacher
