Meet Marcus Crawford, Brooke Grove’s Assisted Living LIFE Illustrator of the Month! 🌟

As a LIFE Enrichment Coordinator, Marcus brings energy, kindness, and connection to our Assisted Living community every day. He makes it a priority to include all residents in activities and takes time to get to know each person and their life stories, always making them feel seen and heard.

Thank you, Marcus, for Living Well Together and for practicing Individual Discovery with our residents each day. We truly appreciate the joy you bring to Brooke Grove! 💙👏

Brenda & Freddy, our resident elves, have been busy spreading cheer as we celebrate Social Work Month! 🎉

March is a time to recognize the incredible dedication and compassion of social workers, and Brenda and Freddy helped mark the occasion by passing out these wonderful Brooke Grove totes provided by Gorman’s Garments & Gear.

A small token of appreciation for the big difference our social workers make every day in the lives of residents and families. Thank you for all that you do! 💙

🐾 Fox Trot on Hickory Knoll ❄️🌿

Earlier this month, a fox was spotted on campus—and thanks to J. McMahon, son of one of our proud IL residents and a professional photographer, we get to enjoy these stunning photos! As his mom said, “It is beautiful to see so much nature here at Brooke Grove.”

🎭 Laissez les bons temps rouler! 🎉

Westbrooke Clubhouse was the place to be on Mardi Gras! Residents enjoyed a colorful evening filled with beads, laughter, and our annual “breakfast for dinner” feast—french toast with fruit compote, chicken apple sausage, bacon, and home fries with peppers and onions. 🍳🥓🍞

The celebration wouldn’t be complete without King Cake! Several lucky residents found the hidden plastic babies in their slices and took home a sweet prize: a Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolate Truffle Bar. 🍫👑

Last month, a lively group of Independent Living residents set out for a delightful Lunch Bunch outing to Black Market Bistro in Garrett Park!

This longtime favorite is nestled in a picturesque historic neighborhood filled with homes dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. The Bistro itself is housed in the charming, 100-year-old Penn Place building—also home to the local post office on the lower level—adding even more character to the experience.

In this warm and welcoming setting, residents savored delicious entrées like Addie’s Style Prince Edward Island Mussels, a Shrimp Po’ Boy, and New Orleans–Style BBQ Shrimp & Grits. Butternut squash soup, crisp salads, and warm baskets of bread rounded out the meal. And as always, the service was exceptional!

Great food, wonderful company, and a beautiful destination made for a perfect afternoon together. 🍽️✨

Love was in the air at the annual Valentine’s Dinner at Westbrooke Clubhouse! ❤️

Residents enjoyed an elegant Surf & Turf evening, beginning with Tomato Bisque, followed by Grilled Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail, and finished with a beautiful heart-shaped Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Cake from Passion Bakery Cafe.

A violinist provided the perfect backdrop, even inspiring one gentleman to share that he and his wife, married more than 70 years, hadn’t dined with live violin music since one of their very first dates.

Each guest left with a long-stem red rose, ending a truly memorable night. 🌹✨

🌟 February LIFE Illustrator Spotlight 🌟 David Tolentino, Food Services

David Tolentino is the kind of team member who shows up with heart, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to service. During our most recent snowstorm, David went above and beyond—selflessly staying overnight for several nights to help ensure residents and fellow team members were cared for. From consistently delivering meals to offering support wherever it was needed, David proved just how essential he is to our community.

In his day-to-day work, David continues to strive for excellence, bringing a positive attitude and genuine passion to everything he does. His favorite phrase—“My pleasure, I am here to serve you!”—perfectly reflects the professionalism, compassion, and care he brings to Brooke Grove each and every day.

Thank you, David, for your dedication and heart. Congratulations on being a Life Illustrator! 👏
