Our DPT Alexandra specializes in Pelvic floor physical therapy! Pelvic floor PT is a specialty focusing on pelvic health that many women may benefit from. The pelvic floor muscles provides stability in the pelvis and are important for the function of various organ systems including sexual function, urinary and bowel function, posture, and breathing. Some common conditions seen by a pelvic floor PT include: urinary incontinence, painful urination, increased urinary urgency and frequency, pain with in*******se, general pelvic pain, and preparation for pregnancy and postpartum. A pelvic floor physical therapist will tailor treatment to your specific symptoms, but will typically address pain, weakness, and/or poor muscle coordination in the pelvic floor muscles. Your physical therapy sessions may include manual therapy to the hips, low back, or pelvic floor musculature, creation of a home exercise program, or education on lifestyle changes and strategies to improve your symptoms.
