October is Protect Your Hearing Month, a time to raise awareness about hearing health and prevent noise-induced hearing loss. TouchPoint Safety Manager Max Silver reminds us to take proactive steps to protect our hearing and recognize its impact on overall well-being. Here are Max's tips for protecting your hearing:

🔊 Understanding Noise Levels: Recognize that prolonged exposure to sounds above 85 decibels (dB) can cause hearing damage.

🎧 Using Hearing Protection: Wear earplugs or earmuffs in noisy environments, such as concerts, construction sites, or when using loud machinery.

⏱️ Limiting Exposure: Reduce the amount of time spent in noisy environments and take regular breaks to give your ears a rest.

🎵 Safe Listening Practices: Keep the volume at a safe level when using headphones or earbuds. Follow the 60/60 rule: listen at no more than 60% volume for no more than 60 minutes at a time.

Join us in celebrating humanKIND winner Jean Ziegenhorn, Dietitian in Milwaukee, WI!

Jean had a refractory epilepsy patient who needed specialized ketogenic tube feeding that we don't carry. With a holiday weekend approaching and no way to source the product for four days, Jean refused to give up. She put her thinking cap on and creatively pieced together a temporary solution using products from our NICU. Her resourcefulness ensured the patient could receive nutrition and start healing until the right product arrived. Jean's determination and unwavering commitment to patient care perfectly exemplify the humanKIND spirit!
