🌟 Resident Spotlight: Meet Barbara 🌟
We’re honored to celebrate Barbara, who has called Cedarwood at Sandy home for an incredible 18 years!
Barbara has helped create a true sense of community here at Cedarwood—building connections, friendships, and a welcoming spirit that so many residents cherish. She also holds a special place in our history as the very first resident to break ground on the construction of our new cottages!
Barbara’s life is filled with strength, resilience, and fascinating experiences. Growing up in a military family, she lived all over the world as her father—a West Point graduate—served 25 years in the U.S. Army, including during WWII and the Korean War. Her mother was a dedicated Nurse Supervisor at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, and Barbara grew up alongside her brother in a home rooted in service and care.
Born deaf due to her mother contracting measles during pregnancy, Barbara has navigated life with determination and grace. She attended the Utah School for the Deaf and later Steven Heneger College, where she developed computer skills that led to a 27-year career as a Supply Clerk at Hill Air Force Base.
Barbara enjoys a rich and creative life—she is an avid painter, loves reading, watching movies, doing puzzles, and is a big fan of both Star Wars and Star Trek!
Some of her favorite memories come from traveling to Disneyland and Hawaii, but these days she finds just as much joy closer to home—especially relaxing on her apartment balcony, taking in the beautiful mountain views.
Barbara, thank you for being such a cherished part of our community. Your story inspires us every day! Thank you for being with us for 18 years!
