10 things you can change today and improve your life!

1. Move faster
2. Lift heavy
3. Cardio daily
4. Sleep 6-8 hours (quality, not just time)
5. No screens 1 hour before bed
6. No screens 1 hour after waking
7. Get sunlight early
8. Eat real food (not processed)
9. Go on a caffeine reset (you’re more dependent than you think)
10. Walk more than you sit

Simple. Not easy. But it works.

Which one is the hardest?
👇 Let us hear it?

Most people train, very few fix what is holding them back.

New Doc Talk series podcast up and a new format. Dr. Smith and I discuss a topic that every archer and bowhunter need to hear… and honestly everyone else too.

Words definitely matter and we need to stop misdiagnosing. Stop calling it “impingement syndrome.”

Give it a listen and let’s hear it in the comments what you think of this new term?

Oh and if you have this type of pain an early evaluation can be the difference in success vs failure so book a call, because an evaluation gives direction.

Success in the mountains isn’t random.

It’s built.
Measured.
Prescribed.

Most people train hard.

But very few understand what their body actually needs.

Because they’ve never measured it.

We don’t guess.

We evaluate movement, identify limitations, and prescribe exactly what your body needs to perform better.

Because performance in the mountains comes down to one thing… how you move.

Under load.
Under fatigue.
On uneven ground.

This isn’t training.

It’s a system built on movement, designed to identify limitations and elevate performance in the mountains.

Built for mountain athletes who demand more.

If you want to perform at a higher level,
start by knowing where you stand.

Know where you stand. Start with a movement evaluation!

If you’ve got knee pain on runs like this, you don’t need more miles, you don’t need more training…

You need answers.

Where are you losing control?
Why is the load hitting your knee?
What’s not doing its job upstream or downstream?
What does your movement look like?

That’s what we solve.

This isn’t random workouts.
This is your prescription. Built around how you move.

Pre-season isn’t about working harder.
It’s about fixing what will fail first, and that starts with your pre-season evaluation and movement screen! Book today! Move better tomorrow!

Thanks nice to run into you on the trail! 😜 Glad I could help!

You don’t need to run more.
You need to run better.

You can run more.
Lift more.
Train harder.

…but if your mechanics are off, you’re just reinforcing dysfunction.

Every step you take is either:
→ building performance
or
→ building injury

That’s why we don’t guess.
We evaluate → analyze → prescribe → perform.

If you’ve got knee pain, tight hips, or feel “off” when you move…

It’s not random.

It’s predictable and fixable.

Comment “RUN” and I’ll show you what to look for in your stride.

⚠️Ok attention trail runners, bone collectors, hikers and mountain connoisseurs….

❓how many have had some knee pain? Are you guilty of the hope and pray it goes away method??? Or the it’s not that bad yet method? Wha did you do to fix it for good? Let’s hear it ⬇️

🏋️Strength alone doesn’t fix knee pain!!!

👀Look to your hips but often overlooked is a careful evaluation and diagnosis looking at your movement quality. I’m not talking your gym bro telling you to wrap it or coach to tell you to suck it up and add more weight! I’m talking an actual movement analysis by Doctors of Physical Therapy… did you know in 2013 the APTA adopted the term movement specialists and no other profession but Physical Therapists hold that title. Pretty cool so if movement is part of your life… maybe look to a Physical Therapist to help you move better!

We would love to help, and we are excited for everything we have been working on to help you move better and reach new heights!

Evaluations give us direction, diagnosis gives us purpose, without them training has no meaning. Clinicians define direction, everything else is just exercise.

When is the last time you had a movement analysis performed?

Hi, I’m Dr. Preston Ward.

Most people know me as MTN PHYSIO… although plenty of people misread it as “MTN Psycho.” 😵‍💫
And honestly… if the shoe fits 🤷‍♂️

I’m a Doctor, Board-Certified Physical Therapist, bowhunter, mountain athlete, believer, dog owner 🐕, mule rider, and family man.

The outdoors has been part of my life since I could walk. I grew up carrying a Daisy gun and a slingshot, longing for any chance to be in the mountains. Hunting isn’t just a hobby for me—and it’s certainly not new to me. It’s in my blood. It’s who I am.

I killed my first 350” bull when I was 17 years old with a single arrow, my old man by my side, and a Hoochie Mama… every elk hunter’s dream. From that moment on, I was hooked.

After graduate school, residency, and earning my board certification in orthopedics, I created a first-of-its-kind specialty clinic designed specifically for hunters and mountain athletes, opening the doors in 2019.

The mission was simple:

Get you to the mountains.
Keep you in the mountains.
For life.

Whatever those mountains may be.

Whether you’re preparing for your first hunt, chasing a once-in-a-lifetime tag, trail running, competing in mountain sports, or leading a high-performing team, my goal is to help you move better, stay healthy, and perform when it matters most.

At MTN Physio, we do that through a proven system.

Evaluate → Analyze → Prescribe

If you love hunting, the mountains, and pushing yourself—or your team—to greater heights, you’ve found the Performance Specialist for you.

🫡 See you on the mountain. 🏔️

True story on my trail run today this 65 y/o guy ahead of me says “nobody ever catches up to me… good job!” I laugh and say thanks I’m a Physical Therapist. He says “ oh I love Physical Therapists and proceeds to tell me how they have kept him going over the years and it’s time for him to have a hip replacement and says “I figure if you ain’t had 10 orthopedic surgeries by the time your 60 you ain’t been living…. I’m on my 20th.” I laughed, told him about my business, my mission to help passionate hikers, hunters and runners like himself and carried on.

I love my profession! I love to interact with active like minded people. I love helping people train better, rehab from injuries, prevent injuries, unnecessary surgeries and simply move better. I love keeping people on the MTN for life! Everyone should have a DPT that they love and trust! If it’s us great! If the MTNS are your thing, if hunting is your jam I would say I can guarantee we can help you move better! If it’s not us, that’s fine let us help you find a specialist near you so hop on a discovery call. One thing is for certain, at a minimum an annual movement examination by a DPT can certainly help you go further and keep you from being sidelined and that is our mission! Not another program, not your traditional wait until you can’t move PT, but skilled evaluation, assessment, diagnosis and our state of the art MFRS!

Most hunters prepare their gear better than they prepare their body.

They dial in their bow.
They test their rifle.
They spend hours researching packs, boots, and optics.

But they never test the one thing that actually carries them through the mountains.

Their body.

Every year I see hunters deal with preventable problems:

• Back pain under a pack
• Shoulder fatigue while glassing or shooting
• Knee pain descending steep terrain

Most of the time it isn’t effort that’s missing.

It’s preparation.

Elite hunters know their gear inside and out.

Serious hunters should know their body the same way.

At Mtn Physio we have set the standard in performance evaluations, accurate diagnosis and evidence based training so we can cut out the guesswork and know your readiness score well before you even hit the trail! It’s pretty simple actually because it’s what we do best as we work one-on-one to prevent injuries, rehab injuries to help GET you there and KEEP you going season after season!

Comment BASELINE and I’ll send you our testing protocol so together we can ELEVATE YOUR HEALTH!
