šŸ’— Hello Heart 2 Heart Family! šŸ’—

I’m so excited to introduce myself as the new owner of Heart 2 Heart Birth Center and share a little about my heart and journey with you.

My name is Robin C**n, and I’m a graduate of the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery (Class of 2019). Before becoming a midwife, I had the honor of serving as a birth assistant for nearly 10 years. I’m also a proud mama of 8 children and a Mimi to 7 amazing grandchildren—with hopes for many more in the future!

My own birth experiences shaped my calling in a powerful way. I had my first three babies naturally in the hospital, my next four at home, and my last baby at a birth center. It was during my first home birth that everything changed for me. Instead of fear and anxiety, I felt peace, calm, and overwhelming love. In that moment, I knew—without a doubt—that God was calling me to midwifery, and I wanted every mother to have the opportunity to feel what I felt.

That dream took time. I still had babies to birth, children to raise, and figure out a way to pay for midwifery school. While homeschooling our kids alongside my husband, James, I never let go of that calling—and eventually, that dream became reality.

Since graduating in 2019, I’ve served as a staff midwife at several birth centers throughout Central Florida, and I also opened my own home birth practice. When the opportunity to purchase Heart 2 Heart became available, I felt an immediate pull. I prayed over it for more than a year, and when the timing was right, every door opened and everything fell perfectly into place.

I want you to know how deeply committed I am to honoring the legacy of Heart 2 Heart Birth Center, while also gently moving it forward with love, integrity, and God’s guidance. It is truly an honor to serve this community, and I’m so grateful to walk alongside you on your journey into parenthood.

With love and gratitude,
Robin

Please enjoy this pic of me doing the newborn exam for my newest grandson, Preston, he was born September 10, 2025.

To make the best choices for their families’ health, Floridians need reliable, unbiased, and up-to-date information on the products at the grocery store.

Until recently, this information has been difficult to obtain because big food corporations and regulators have not been transparent about the presence of contaminants of concern in popular food and drinks. But now, Florida is advancing the MAHA mission by ensuring transparency for all.

As part of our Healthy Florida First initiative, and have been conducting rigorous testing of products marketed for children—including infant formula and candy. Publishing the results of these tests at ExposingFoodToxins.com reflects our commitment to evidence-based evaluation, consumer protection, and ensuring the safety of food products available to Florida families.

Lactation is a ā€œsupply and demandā€ system driven by the infant’s suck, swallow, and breathing patterns, which regulate milk production, flow, and composition in real time. This feedback loop does not occur in the same way with mechanical milk removal.

🄘 From a nutritional standpoint, human milk provides the precise balance of macronutrients, bioavailable micronutrients, enzymes, and hormones required for human infant growth. Its composition changes across a feeding, over the course of a day, and across months of lactation to match developmental needs. These adaptive changes are a normal function of the lactating breast and infant interaction.

šŸ”¬ From an immunologic perspective, feeding at the breast delivers live immune components directly to the infant. Secretory IgA, lactoferrin, lysozyme, leukocytes, cytokines, and human milk oligosaccharides work together to protect mucosal surfaces, shape the gut microbiome, and reduce the risk of infectious and inflammatory disease.

šŸ“š Decades of research support these physiologic advantages. Major health organizations including the World Health Organization, American Academy of Pediatrics, and UNICEF recognize breastfeeding as the normative standard for infant feeding due to its associations with reduced infant morbidity and mortality, improved gastrointestinal and respiratory health, and long-term benefits for both infant and maternal health.

For these reasons, feeding at the breast is not framed as an alternative or idealized option, but as the biological baseline. 🩷

Community birth centers are safe, evidence-based care--and families love them. But they are disappearing or gone in most areas due to a lack of funding. The BABIES Act helps change that.

Building upon the success of CMS's Strong Start Demonstration Program, the BABIES Act would provide grant funding to states to develop and advance innovative payment models for freestanding birth centers. The birth center model of care has been shown to reduce preterm and low birth weight births, reduce cesarean births, and lead to significant cost savings due to better outcomes.

We encourage all midwives and midwifery supporters to contact their members of Congress and urge support for this critical legislation. We have provided a template letter that can be edited to reflect your thoughts and opinions in support of the BABIES Act.
