Florida's version of a White Christmas. White pelicans start arriving around Thanksgiving and will stay in Florida till after Easter. True snowbirds. Look for these massive birds (nearly a 10 foot wingspan) along the Gulf coast and inland lakes in big numbers. They love to hang together, but are easily spooked by people. Please keep a distance. When you see them cluster like this, it's often a group that's foraging together and cooperatively herding fish into the shallows for a mass feeding.

After Easter, look for them flying in large v-formations back to breeding grounds in the northern US and Canada.
