Interim Clinical Trial Results Show Significant Efficacy of KetoCitra® in Combination With Nutritional Changes in Autosomal-Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease

Interim results from a controlled clinical trial presented at ASN offer evidence for metabolic therapy in ADPKD.
The study, led by Juntendo University in Tokyo, tracked the efficacy of KetoCitra® as part of the Ren-Nu™ ketogenic nutrition program.

Key Findings at 3 Months:
-Clinically Meaningful Kidney Volume Decline: Subjects in the intervention group experienced a statistically significant 5.01% reduction in Total Kidney Volume (TKV). During the same period, the control group’s kidneys grew by 8.03%
-Renal Function Stability: The intervention group showed a stabilization of eGFR (+0.59 ml/min/1.73 m²), while the control group continued to show a decline (-1.57 ml/min/1.73 m²).
-High Tolerability and Adherence: The study reported a 100% adherence rate, with zero participants discontinuing.

The Mechanism:
Targeting the metabolic vulnerability of cystic cells (glucose dependency) via nutritional ketosis, supported by the exogenous ketone BHB and alkaline citrate to normalize urinary pH.

Conclusion:
A non-pharmacological approach that is clinically safe, effective and feasible for patients.
