Santa Barbara Village

Santa Barbara Village Making life easier, healthier, and fuller for independent seniors. -- Helping people to age at home with peace of mind and connection.

Santa Barbara Village is a nonprofit program for seniors who want to stay as independent as possible and live safely and comfortably in their own homes. With one phone call or email message, Village members can gain access to professional and volunteer services and a variety of educational, cultural, and social programs. Santa Barbara Village is not a building or housing development; it is an alternative to a retirement or assisted-living facility for seniors who wish to remain independent and at home as long as possible. We call it a "virtual senior living community" because area residents will form a community through volunteering for one another and through joining the Village as a member with access to shared activities and services. We have been focused on planning our services and programs, determining volunteer needs, and launching membership and fundraising campaigns as well as many other activities related to our official opening. Our 2-phased incremental launch kicked off with Phase I (limited services) on October 17, 2011. Phase II (full launch) will begin January 2012. Members who join before Dec 31, 2011, will enjoy member benefits during Phase I free of charge. We are currently outreaching to community groups, senior service providers, and our extensive network of individuals so that individuals and families who most need these services are informed.

I'm guessing that this page is going to disappear or get relaunched with the transition to the new organization, so I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed all my experiences with Santa Barbara Village and all the wonderful people. Thanks especially to Pat and Cyndi. All the best to everyone and Happy Thanksgiving. --Bella DePaulo [Look at Cyndi's comment, below, for more about what's happening.]

Our Village Needs Your Support

Our modest dues do not cover all of our expenses, and we rely on contributions to continue to support this important program for Santa Barbara Seniors. Please give as you are able. No gift is too small ---nor too large.

We would love to have more members at the Social level ($225 yr.) to support the Village operations. Already being a member means you will be ready to receive services from someone you know and trust when the need arises.

"Thank you again for the many nice things you are doing for us but most of all just being there for me."
Donations are accepted and needed year round. All donations are tax deductible. Donating is easy, just click the blue "donate" rectangle in the upper right, underneath the picture on the top of this page.
