At Santa Barbara Orthopedic Associates, patient safety and well-being has always been our first priority. In light of recent concerns about the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19), patients should be assured that we employ the highest standards of safety and infection control protocols. We are actively monitoring developments and news regarding local outbreaks and will take further action if necessary.
For the safety of our patients and our staff, if you are experiencing a cold or flu-like symptoms, please call our office to reschedule your appointment. If you have a post-operative appointment and have any symptoms, please call our office before coming to your appointment.
In addition, we ask patients who have recently traveled to the following countries to wait 14 days after their return to schedule or attend any appointments: China, Japan, South Korea, Iran, or Italy.
If you are symptom free and plan to attend your appointment, we are asking for assistance in stopping the spread of viruses by limiting those attending an appointment with you to one healthy adult guest only. Minors under the age of 17 should only come to the office if they are the patient. The CDC is recommending social distancing, so we are minimizing the number of people in our facility. We are also temperature scanning all patients and their guests.
While the best way to prevent illness is to avoid exposure, the CDC recommends the following measures:
• Avoid close contact (within 6 feet) with people who are sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
• Stay home if you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. If a tissue is not available, sneeze or cough into your elbow.
• Read more about the CDC's virus prevention recommendations at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html.
Thank you for helping contain the spreading viruses in our community,
The Staff and Physicians of Santa Barbara Orthopedic Associates
