We asked Chris for his advice to the younger generation, and he shared a very valuable perspective!

He suggests thinking about where you want to be in your older years. The idea of aging in place is not something young people usually think about because they are busy living their lives, raising families, and building careers.

At some point, you have to think about it: where you want to be and what kind of things you want to do with your time. As Chris says, you have to have meaning in your life! 💭

It's been a very happy holiday season at Maravilla! 🎄

This season has been defined by generosity and connection. We were proud to support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and spent time decorating cards to brighten the holidays for veterans and the Dream Foundation.

The festive spirit was everywhere, from our Artisan Bazaar to the holiday door contest, but the sweetest moment was welcoming parents and children from the neighborhood to carol through our halls. We hope your day is filled with that same sense of family and love! 🎅❤️

Walking for a cause close to our hearts. 💜

Our residents and team understand the profound impact of Alzheimer’s disease on families and loved ones, but we also share a strong sense of optimism for the promising breakthroughs on the horizon. To honor those we love, the Maravilla community came together for the annual Santa Barbara Walk to End Alzheimer’s at the Fess Parker Pavilion!

Walking along the beautiful beach and boardwalk, we united as a community to show our support. It was a meaningful day of bonding AND hope for a future without Alzheimer's!

Spreading love, one card at a time. ❤️💌

Maravilla had a wonderful opportunity to bring some cheer to our wider community. We are embarking on a special initiative to lovingly decorate cards for individuals staying in our local hospital, the Dream Foundation, and a veteran’s home.

This effort is especially meaningful for those who are unable to be with their families during this time of year due to distance or health challenges. Knowing that we can bring a smile to someone's face and let them know they are in our thoughts is incredibly rewarding.

It is a touching way to spread joy and show the power of community and compassion.🎄

After winning Round 1, Door #9 by Sandy Russell now represents our entire community in the SRG Senior Living Company-wide Home for the Holidays Door Décor Contest!

Sandy is a relatively new resident who found inspiration in her past home in Santa Barbara. She used to watch a herd of 13 deer play in the hills behind her house, and her winning door celebrates those memories and her favorite animals!

Dinner came with a side of holiday cheer! 🎶

A wonderful group of neighborhood parents and their adorable children filled Maravilla with joy by serenading our residents with Christmas carols during dinner. It was such a special treat to have the community come together and share in the magic of the season. ❤️

At our recent Men’s Club meeting, we had the privilege of welcoming Bruce Luyendyk as our special guest speaker. 🗣️

Bruce is a distinguished Professor Emeritus from UC Santa Barbara and the author of the book "Mighty Bad Land." He captivated the group with incredible stories about his expedition to Antarctica and the intense challenges his crew faced in that extreme environment.

Maravilla's recent Artisan Bazaar was a happy celebration of culture, craftsmanship, and true community spirit. ✨

It was much more than just an event... we enjoyed a showcase of incredible local talent: rich hues of handwoven textiles and intricate pottery to custom t-shirts, jewelry, and stunning paintings, every turn offered a new discovery. It was so special to see our residents go all out to welcome the community and get to know each other better! 🛍️💛
