Linda's relationship advice to the younger generation is that you have to be understanding and that it's work!

She says it’s not a fairy tale where everything magically falls into place. You have to pay attention, be honest, and be willing to grow together, because if something isn’t right before marriage, it usually doesn’t get easier after. What makes it last is understanding each other’s quirks, choosing patience, and staying in it for the long haul.

When resident Denny McClatchey pitched a flash mob to “Mamma Mia! (but with our own twist), singing “Mara-Villa!”, we knew we had to say YES!

Denny is the spark behind so many of our favorites here: game shows and radio shows, even theatrical moments that keep the whole community involved. He also captured a drone video of our community that later became a commercial we see bright and early at 6:30am each morning in Santa Barbara.

This is what happens when curiosity meets a big “Let’s do this!” attitude. So… what’s next? Going back to Rock Gym? Or maybe trying the trying trapeze? 🎬

As comes to an end, we’re celebrating the heart behind the fun at Maravilla!

Our Zest Director Jill shares that what she loves most is giving our residents purpose and reminding them their stories and their voices MATTER. She’s passionate about breaking the stigma of senior living and creating a place where people can enjoy themselves, because joy doesn’t have an age limit! 🌟

Mondays at Maravilla have a rhythm: a few serious card players shuffling with purpose, maybe some artists getting paint on their hands, and an occasional “wait! let me see that!” across the table. 🎨🃏

In between strength training, Shakespeare Club, current events, AND painting, we’re easing into this stretch of the season the way we like best: making things and learning things- always together.

And honestly? This time of year brings out something special. It’s the week you try something “just for fun” and it turns into something bigger!

One of our artists (whose work has been shown in galleries up and down the West Coast!) is excited to pull her pieces back out and start finishing larger works again. Another moment that stuck with us: a volunteer at our Mercado shared she’s dreamed of working in a little store since she was a kid, setting up pretend shops at home. Now, she gets to be the one helping someone find a birthday card, a necklace, or even just a soda pop, and you can see how much it means!

That’s the magic of SRG Senior Living's purposeful Zest programming that we're so proud of.

Today, we are sharing a sweet love story from our community: Sandy and her husband share 32 wonderful years of marriage together!

It all began when she was working for him. That simple beginning blossomed into a lifetime filled with love and true partnership. ❤️💍

We had a wonderful December at Maravilla! Our residents celebrated the season in style, with a major highlight being the festive holiday party with plenty of dancing.

We also spent some quiet moments creating beautiful floral arrangements together. It was the perfect month full of special memories to close out the year. A big thank you goes to everyone who supported and joined us this season! 🎄💃

Maravilla loved exploring body wellness through Eastern Dance Movement, including belly dancing, guided by the inspiring Beth Amine!

With more than 65 years of dance experience, Beth brings not only technical expertise, but a deep understanding of how movement supports longevity and stamina at every stage of life. During the session, our residents learned how mindful movement can strengthen the body and help them continue participating in the parades and community performances they love.

Rooted in joy, this experience was a reminder that wellness isn’t about slowing down, but about moving with purpose, passion, and possibility. Thanks, Beth! 💃✨

Laurel speaks about a game called Pan. She used to play it with her mother and they even played in Vegas!

She was sad because she thought no one played anymore, but she found a group of friends here who do. They are still searching for three players to join them.

We asked Linda, "What's your purpose?"

When her husband passed away, she thought she had lost her purpose, but she found it again by maintaining her friendships and getting involved in the community! She sees her high school friends, goes to concerts, and plays Mahjong. Staying active and connected has given her a renewed sense of purpose. ❤️
