Cardio drumming is a dynamic cardiovascular workout that turns rhythm into movement and the room felt it!

Participants use drumsticks to tap an exercise ball set on a bucket, add simple dance steps, and follow our Fitness Director, Melissa Milsap, through music from the last 50 years. Low impact, heart rates up, timing and coordination practiced, range of motion in play together. 🥁🎶

Ukulele time at Maravilla strikes all the right chords. Our residents gather not just to play, but to connect! The group also takes their music beyond our community, performing at local nursing homes and assisted living centers to spread some joy. Together, they're a beautiful reminder of how music can uplift and inspire! 🎶💛

When asked what he’d do differently, Burt didn’t miss a beat. Married for over 62 years, he shared: spend as much time with your family as you can! 💛

Maravilla's Men’s Club recently welcomed Bruce Luyendyk: Professor Emeritus from UC Santa Barbara, and author of "Mighty Bad Land," for a talk on Antarctica! We learned all about its stark geography, the hurdles his science crew faced, and what it takes to prevail there today. It was fascinating. Thanks, Professor! 🧊📚🌍

We went all out for Halloween at Maravilla! Many neighbors arrived in thoughtful costumes, but one stood out. Bernice Smith (turning 100 in December!) arrived as a clever “Bag Lady,” a creative touch from someone who stays active and engaged! 👜

Each October, spotlights early detection, education, and support for those affected- part of a global effort around a disease impacting 2.3 million women worldwide! Maravilla Santa Barbara gathered to honor Diwali, the Festival of Lights, celebrated by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs as the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil! Diwali spans five days, each with its own traditions and reflections, and our community embraced all the joy and meaning. A special thank-you to Susan and Sal Jain for organizing and overseeing this lovely event! 🪔🪷

Tawni’s Mobile Petting Zoo rolled into Maravilla with Peking ducks, sheep, 7-month-old goats, a Chinese Crested chicken, and a 37-year-old donkey named Chloe who absolutely stole the show! For some, it was a first-ever brush with farm life; for others, it brought back the rhythm of mornings in the barn and animals they once tended. Thanks again to this group for stopping in, what a day! 🐐🦆

Maravilla leveled up our monthly Farmer's Market by partnering with Tri Valley Produce, The Honey Man, SB Bubble Guy, and our own family members who cooked fresh street tacos on the patio!

Santa Ynez Valley wine was a crowd favorite, arts & crafts rounded out the scene, and then local growers brought farm-to-table to life, right here in the Goodland. Staff, residents, family, and friends, all came together for a market that really feels like us. 🌽🍷🌮

“We interrupt this program…” only to report a room full of laughter!

The Maravilla Radio Players staged a live, resident-created take on Orson Welles's "War of the Worlds" broadcast from Halloween 1938, complete with tongue-in-cheek “reports” and spot-on audience participation. Director Dennis (Denny) McClatchey, drawing on his broadcasting background, turned a quiet afternoon into a witty, well-timed romp for us all. 🎙️👏
