Jervis Yau, MD serves patients living in Santa Barbara, Goleta, Santa Maria and Ventura, California. Dr. Yau specializes in the treatment of shoulder, knee, hip, elbow and ankle injuries, as well as all sports related injuries. At Ryu Hurvitz Orthopedic Clinic, he utilizes advanced arthroscopic and open surgery techniques to restore damaged joints, bones and ligaments with the goal of returning patients to an active, healthy lifestyle. Dr. Yau graduated from the University of California, San Diego and completed his Doctor of Medicine at New York Medical College where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, Yale University School of Medicine, followed by his sports medicine fellowship at Sports Orthopedic and Rehabilitation (SOAR). Dr. Yau has published articles in peer-reviewed publications, books and orthopedic presentations dedicated to sports medicine and orthopedic conditions and treatments. In addition to his active orthopedic practice, Dr. Yau is a team physician for Cate School, Bishop Diego High School, Santa Barbara High School, Westmont College Intercollegiate Athletics and the University of California-Santa Barbara Intercollegiate Athletics. He is also a past team physician for the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco Bulls Hockey and ATP/WTA Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament. As a team physician for a number of athletic groups, Dr. Yau is highly experienced at treating athletes and active individuals at all levels. On the academic front, Dr. Jervis Yau, orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist in the Santa Barbara area, is on the Membership Committee of Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). He is also a proud member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

▪️ Weight bearing as tolerated within days
▪️ Physical therapy starts in the first week
▪️ Full recovery: 4–6 weeks

🔹Meniscal Repair:
▪️ Brace + protected weight bearing for 4–6 weeks
▪️ Gradual PT progression
