The human eye can see around 10 million colors. 🌈

That’s right! Your eyes can detect subtle variations in hue that most screens can’t even reproduce. This ability helps us appreciate sunsets, art, and the colorful world around us.

Protect your color vision by wearing UV-blocking sunglasses and getting regular eye exams.

Optometry & Contact Lenses - 60+ Year History of Excellence

Silicon Valley Eyecare Optometry & Contact Lenses evolved from a practice established by Dr. Edwin Mehr, OD, over sixty years ago. After serving in World War II, Dr. Mehr started his optometric practice in Santa Clara in the late 1940s. Dr. Mehr was a pioneer in optometric education and founded this practice on helping partially-sighted individuals. He lectured extensively in Australia, Europe, and the United States. He and his wife, Dr. Helen Mehr, PhD, a clinical psychologist, were great humanitarians and pillars of the community.

Dr. Mehr merged with another Santa Clara optometrist, Dr. Irving Weisman, in the early 1960s, and together, they moved their practice to Scott Boulevard. In 1971, Dr. Wayne Zimmerman joined their partnership and continued with his cheerful and methodical patient care until 2005.

Over the years, Silicon Valley Eyecare has continued its long tradition of excellence in eyecare with the addition of Dr. Deborah McBride in 1984, Dr. Jeffery Calmere in 1990, Dr. Lou Ann Alexander in 1993, Dr. Raymond Chin in 2001, Dr. Michael Chen in 2014, Dr. Patty Sha in 2015, and Dr. Jenna McBride in 2018.

Today Silicon Valley Eyecare Optometry & Contact Lenses is one of the leading eyecare facilities in Santa Clara County and Northern California. Our doctors continue to provide innovative, quality, comprehensive eyecare in the tradition of Dr. Mehr: professionalism with a personal touch.
