Wisdom is….
Being able to appreciate now what you will miss later.
My first thought this morning was “i wish my kids wouldn’t wake me up at 6am randomly” then as I brushed my teeth and got ready for the day I thought about how much I am going to miss their little snuggles in the morning. The flopping around in bed as they literally say they will be still and go back to sleep etc. is super cute. It’s easy to internalize this sentiment when we think about kids. They are only young for so long after all.

Fast forward to how many years we spend as fully grown adults…. Probably most of those years are spent thinking about everything else other than our health is going to be 1/3/5/10 years from now. How much would you miss putting your socks on without back pain, sneezing without pulling a muscle, or getting up from a nice nap on the couch WITHOUT a broken neck?

Perspective goes well with all choices. Perspective comes from experience, but wisdom comes from learning from experiences you DIDNT have to have to learn the lesson. Think of what wisdom is in the first place… perspective (from experiences) that guides choices, understands, AND acts on consequences. (If I were ever to make wine, I would name it perspective…) I’ve never had a client that said… “Marcel, I’m so glad I didn’t exercise all my life and ate s**t food” rather, I hear “I wish I would have…” and what ever finishes the rest of that sentence usually sounds a lot like wisdom.

What health thing are you going to miss 1/3/5/10 years from now?

Or rather, what are you doing now for yourself that will keep you moving how you want to move 1/3/5/10 years from now?
