⚾ A Night to Remember at the Ballpark ⚾

Last Thursday, JW House had the incredible honor of attending a San Francisco Giants game through their “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” initiative: an amazing program that provides tickets to local nonprofits serving the community.

Because of this generosity, our staff, volunteers, and families were able to enjoy a special night together at the ballpark, sharing smiles, laughter, and a much-needed moment of joy.

Experiences like these mean so much to the families we serve, offering a chance to step away, connect, and create lasting memories.

A Celebration of Creativity & Community 🎨

Yesterday, Kaiser Permanente hosted its very first Physicians Craft Fair: a unique and inspiring event showcasing the incredible talents of physicians beyond the medical field.

From handmade wooden bowls and custom onesies to beautiful paintings and more, each piece reflected the creativity and passion of the individuals who care for our community every day.

The most meaningful part? All proceeds were generously donated to JW House. 💙

We were honored to be selected as a beneficiary of this special event and grateful for the opportunity to connect with these dedicated physicians—not only to see their artistry, but to hear about the impactful work they do for patients and families every day.

🎉 Celebrating 25 Years of DishDash! 🎉

On Tuesday, marked an incredible milestone: 25 years of serving the community (a true quarter century!), and JW House was honored to be part of the celebration.

We had the opportunity to connect with fellow local businesses and nonprofits who share a common purpose: uplifting and supporting our community. It was a meaningful reminder of just how powerful that shared mission can be.

DishDash has long been one of our most generous and trusted Dinner is Served (DIS) partners. When they give, they give in a big way, providing full meals that can feed up to 40 families at a time. Their kindness and consistency have brought comfort, nourishment, and joy to so many of the families we serve.

Earlier this week, we stopped by Maple Tree Inn to share a small token of our appreciation — a delicious assorted cookie platter baked by our wonderful JW House volunteer, Alma Rogers. 🍪

Maple Tree Inn has supported JW House families for many years by providing hotel rooms when our accommodations at the house are full. Their generosity ensures that families still have a safe and comfortable place to stay while their loved one receives nearby medical care.

Earlier this week, Donna and Richard Landry stopped by JW House with a very special gift for our families — a beautiful handmade quilt created by Donna.

This particular quilt took three months to complete, and the care and craftsmanship truly show. Donna has been creating custom quilts for JW House families for years, and somehow each one becomes even more stunning than the last.

These quilts provide more than warmth — they offer comfort, care, and a reminder to families that their community is thinking of them during difficult times. We are so grateful for the time, dedication, and generosity Donna and Richard put into these incredible gifts for the families we serve. 💙

On Monday, our JW House families were treated to an incredible Dinner is Served meal thanks to dedicated volunteer Aninna Hitt! 🍽️

Aninna cooked up an amazing feast featuring herb & garlic pork tenderloin, a classic baked potato bar, roasted broccolini, cheddar bay biscuits, and a decadent dessert of dark chocolate and Japanese fudge cake with maple Greek yogurt dip.

Everything was absolutely delicious, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about the meal. Thank you, Aninna, for sharing your time, care, and culinary talent to make such a memorable evening for the families we serve. 💙

Located on the campus of Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center, JW House welcomes families and individuals from area hospitals into our family for rest and self-care during the day or overnight while their loved one is in the hospital.

No family should be separated when they need each other the most.
