This monthโ€™s Cookie Appreciation goes to our incredible new partner, Hunger at Home ๐Ÿ’›

Hunger at Home is a Bay Area nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste and food insecurity by rescuing surplus meals and redistributing them to local communities in need. Beyond food recovery, they also prepare and provide nourishing meals to organizations like JW House.

Theyโ€™ve stepped in to provide hot, delicious meals for our families โ€” especially when a Dinner is Served group has to cancel unexpectedly. With generous portions and incredible flavor, they ensure our guest families are cared for without interruption.

We are so grateful for their partnership and commitment to serving our Santa Clara County community. ๐Ÿ’™

Love was truly in the air at JW House this Valentineโ€™s Day ๐Ÿ’•

A huge thank you to Naho from Miley Baking for generously donating beautiful, delicious cupcakes for our guest families and staff. What may seem like a simple sweet treat means so much to families navigating long hospital days โ€” itโ€™s a reminder that their community is thinking of them.

Over the past several months, Naho has been incredibly consistent in sharing her time, talent, and baked goods with JW House. Her thoughtfulness brings comfort, joy, and a moment of sweetness during some very challenging times.

Naho, we are so grateful for you and the heart you pour into everything you create. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ What a weekend to remember! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

On February 7th, the JW House Student Board hosted their very first Hope Run โ€” and what an incredible success it was. Our inaugural race brought together runners, walkers, families, and supporters from across the community in a powerful show of heart and commitment to families facing medical crisis.

Weโ€™re especially grateful to the Knapen family for walking the course with us and sharing in the spirit of the day, and to Coach McCrystle and the distance track team for bringing amazing energy and encouragement to our participants. You helped make this event truly special.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our Hope Run sponsors and partners who made this event possible:
โญ Major Sponsor: Nikki St. Angel
โญ Anonymous Sponsor
โญ Event Sponsor: Kalos
โญ In-kind Sponsor: LMNT โ€” for providing hydration samples for runners
โญ Community Partner: Road Runner Sports โ€” for coordinating packet pick-up, supporting race efforts, and extending an ongoing discount to the JW House community

Because of this incredible collective support, more families at JW House will continue to receive comfort, care, and a place to stay close when it matters most. This first Hope Run sets a beautiful foundation for the years ahead โ€” and we canโ€™t wait to grow it together.

๐Ÿ† Itโ€™s Time for the JW House Golden Plate Awards! ๐Ÿ†

Each year, the Golden Plate Award is presented to the volunteer group that has gone above and beyond in our Dinner Is Served programโ€”serving the most dinners and supporting the most families throughout the year.

This year, we are proud to present the Golden Plate Award to the Tzu Chi Foundation, who generously provided 16 dinners for our families! ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

Every other group listed on our Golden Plate board represents the very best of our communityโ€”our top Dinner Is Served contributors this past year. Together, these 21 incredible volunteer groups helped served 5,800+ meals to families facing medical crises. Thatโ€™s 5,800 moments of nourishment, comfort, and relief after long hospital days.

To every volunteer who cooked, served, donated, organized, and showed upโ€”thank you. Because of you, families at JW House are reminded that they are never alone. ๐Ÿ’™

We are endlessly grateful for each and every one of you. If you would like to sign up for D.I.S in 2026, please visit www.jwhouse/org/dis

๐Ÿ’› Dinner Is Served! ๐Ÿ’›

A big thank you to Kids Empower Kids for providing a delicious and comforting Dinner Is Served meal for our JW House families! ๐Ÿ’™

Last nights menu brought so much warmth to the table and included: Mexican rice, Beans, Fajita veggies with tofu, Corn, Salsa, sour cream & cheese, Tortilla chips.

Meals like this do more than fill platesโ€”they bring families together after long, exhausting days at the hospital and remind them they are supported by an incredible community.

We are so grateful to Kids Empower Kids for empowering compassion, kindness, and care through their generosity. Thank you for helping make JW House feel like home. ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ’™ Service in Action ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฆ…

We are so grateful to Raghav Sinha, an Eagle Scout, who chose JW House as the beneficiary of his Eagle Scout project. Along with a dedicated group of six fellow Eagle Scouts, Raghav assembled 10 boxes of comfort kits โ€” nearly 100 kits โ€” to support families staying with us.

To make the day even sweeter, they also brought boxes of donuts and hot chocolate for our guests, spreading warmth and care in the simplest, most meaningful ways.

Thank you, Raghav and team, for your leadership, generosity, and commitment to service. Your hard work will bring comfort to families when they need it most.

๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’™ Help Us Stock Up for Our Families! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ

As we head into the coming weeks, JW House is gearing up to make sure our guest families have plenty of easy, comforting snacks on handโ€”especially during long hospital days and late nights.

While these items are always needed, our current food drive lines up perfectly with Super Bowl season, when snacks are top of mind! ๐ŸŽ

Weโ€™re inviting our amazing community to help by dropping off individually packaged snacks and drinks starting early next week through Super Bowl weekend. Every donationโ€”big or smallโ€”goes directly to supporting families staying with us during a medical crisis.

Your generosity helps provide a sense of normalcy, comfort, and care when itโ€™s needed most. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“ Drop-offs are welcome beginning next week
๐Ÿ“… Donations accepted through Super Bowl weekend

Thank you for showing up for our families, always. We truly couldnโ€™t do this without you.

๐Ÿ’™ Honoring a Community That Has Always Shown Up ๐Ÿ’™

Anne Marie had the honor of visiting Saint Clare School yesterday during Catholic Schools Week, a time when students recognize and celebrate their local heroes โ€” including first responders, community organizations, and JW House.

This moment is especially meaningful to our hearts. Helena, Elisabeth, and Alexander all attended Saint Clare School, and JW had just begun volunteering there, helping in a first-grade classroom, when he became ill. During that difficult time, the Saint Clare community showed incredible kindness and support to our family โ€” and they have continued to stand by JW House ever since.

We are deeply grateful for the students, staff, and families of Saint Clare School for their ongoing compassion and generosity. Your support reminds us that community care truly lasts a lifetime. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿช๐Ÿ’™ A Sweet Thank You to Our PICU & Pediatrics Care Teams ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿช

Last week, JW House had the joy of sharing cookie appreciation with the incredible Kaiser PICU and Pediatrics staff โ€” a small token of our deep gratitude for the care, compassion, and dedication they show families every single day.

A heartfelt thank you to Alma Rogers, our dedicated JW House volunteer, who generously donated the cookies once again. Her kindness helps us spread a little comfort and sweetness to those who care for our families when it matters most.

To the Kaiser PICU and Pediatrics teams: thank you for all that you do for children and families in their most vulnerable moments. We are so grateful for you. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’™ A Lasting Tribute of Love ๐Ÿ’™

Last week, we had the honor of unveiling a memorial tile in loving memory of Anne Sanquinnii, beloved wife of longtime Silicon Valley resident and community supporter Dick Sanquinnii. The tile, displayed in our beautiful backyard, simply reads: โ€œIn Loving Memory, Anne Sanquinnii.โ€ ๐Ÿ•Š

This meaningful tribute stands as a lasting symbol of love, remembrance, and compassion โ€” bringing comfort not only to Anneโ€™s family, but also to the many families who find peace and reflection in our garden.

We are deeply grateful to Dick for choosing to honor Anne in such a heartfelt way, and for his continued support of our community.

If you would like to celebrate the life of a loved one or create a legacy of hope, we invite you to consider dedicating a tile in our backyard. Each tile becomes a permanent part of JW House โ€” a reminder that love endures. ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ’› Honoring a Legacy of Love ๐Ÿ’›

With heavy hearts, we share that Anne Marieโ€™s father, โ€œOpaโ€ Asnong, recently passed away. Though many may not have known him personally, his impact on JW House reaches far beyond what words can capture.

From the very beginning โ€” all the way in Belgium, where JW House fundraising first took root โ€” Anne Marieโ€™s parents were steadfast supporters of this mission. Until just a few years ago, Anne Marie and her dad would cook together for JW House whenever he was visiting, sharing meals that were rooted in love, family, and service.

When Anne Marie told her dad she loved him, he always replied, โ€œI love you more.โ€ And those who knew him knew he truly did.

During the hardest season of Anne Marieโ€™s life โ€” when JW was sick โ€” her parents were her rock. They stood beside her then, just as they stood behind the mission of JW House in every way they could.

To honor his beautiful legacy, JW House has placed a custom plaque on a bench in our backyard that reads: โ€œIn Loving Memory of โ€˜Opaโ€™ Asnong โ€” โ€˜I love you more.โ€™โ€

His love lives on โ€” in our house, in our hearts, and in every family we serve. ๐Ÿ’™

JW House

JW House keeps families together during medical crisis by offering a welcoming home close to the hospital and providing a caring and compassionate environment that inspires hope.

Located on the campus of Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center, JW House welcomes families and individuals from area hospitals into our family for rest and self-care during the day or overnight while their loved one is in the hospital.

No family should be separated when they need each other the most.
