“Shark teeth” in kids occur when permanent teeth erupt behind baby teeth, creating a double row. This is a common and often harmless situation that usually resolves on its own as the baby teeth fall out and the permanent teeth move into place. If the baby tooth is loose, encourage your child to wiggle it. If it’s not loosening after a few weeks, or if there is pain, your child’s dentist may need to extract the baby tooth to prevent future crowding or bite problems.
