Visual changes are never something to brush off. Start with an eye doctor. If the change feels neurological, see a neurologist. If it feels like an emergency, go to the ER. And if everything comes back “normal” but you still feel off, dizzy, anxious when using your eyes, or like the world doesn’t sit still, see a neurovisual specialist. Protect your vision, protect your life. Don’t wait. If you need help from Dr. David Antonyan, O.D., schedule a consultation at www.vividvisionsoptometry.com/appointments.

Our VR eye tracker records how each eye actually moves while reading. In this case, the right eye tracks the text. The left eye drifts upward because of vertical strabismus and other alignment issues. The brain cannot fuse the two images, so it suppresses one eye to survive. That suppression shows up as anxiety, losing your place, skipping words, headaches, and feeling overwhelmed when reading out loud. This is what many patients live with for years. Prism lenses and targeted vision therapy help the eyes work together, so the brain no longer has to fight. If you need help, you can schedule a consultation with Dr. David Antonyan, O.D. www.vividvisionsoptometry.com/appointments

If you notice unusual visual changes, take these steps: See an eye doctor first to rule out retinal problems and eye disease. If nothing is found but things still feel off, see a neurologist to rule out nerve issues or brain causes. If your vision feels strained, unstable, or hard to coordinate, see a binocular vision specialist for alignment and prism evaluation.

Flashing lights in your vision can mean two very different things. Sometimes it happens when the retina gets tugged or torn. That is an eye emergency. It often looks like lightning streaks or camera flashes in the dark. If you see that suddenly, especially with new floaters or a curtain of darkness, go to the ER or an eye doctor immediately. With binocular vision dysfunction or with migraines, flashing or shimmering can happen when the eyes are fighting to stay aligned. The brain is overwhelmed by unstable visual input, and it can feel like brief flickers, static, or light sensitivity. It is not the same as a retinal tear. If you’re unsure, do not guess. Rule out retinal problems first, then look at eye alignment and prism.

Binocular Vision Test and Training! Part 3 of the 3D reading series. Cross or uncross your eyes until the two images fuse into one 3D picture. Once it locks in, keep it steady and start reading the text inside the middle image. Hold clarity as long as you can. This trains depth perception, eye teaming, and the fine control your brain uses to keep words from drifting or doubling. Simple drill, real gains. www.vividvisionsoptometry.com/appointments

Can BVD show up suddenly? Yes; it can hit fast. But anytime symptoms come on out of nowhere, we have to rule out the serious stuff first. That includes masses, ischemia, infections, inflammation, or anything affecting the brain or cranial nerves. Once those are ruled out, we check for binocular vision dysfunction and see how the eyes are working together. Located in Valencia, California. We offer virtual therapy and virtual consultations. People ask how we can tell when someone loses their place while reading. We record their eyes with VR eye tracking and watch how each eye moves. Sometimes one eye is reading one paragraph while the other eye is on a completely different line. That split makes reading feel exhausting and confusing. If this sounds familiar, get checked by a doctor who understands binocular vision dysfunction. Located in Valencia, California. We offer virtual therapy and virtual consultations. We check every single lens that comes in and make sure it’s made exactly how I prescribed it. If anything is off, even slightly, I send it back. I never let my patients wear lenses that aren’t perfect. Accuracy matters when you’re treating BVD. www.vividvisionsoptometry.com/appointments

If you’ve ever felt the world spin, blur, or pull sideways like this song describes, you’re not alone. These are the moments people hide because they don’t know what’s wrong or why it takes so much effort just to see straight. If you feel this way, we can chat. Link in bio.

Train your vision with this simple fusion test. Cross your eyes until the two images merge into a third one in the center. When you see that middle image pop into 3D, hold it clear and steady all the way to the end. This strengthens eye teaming and tests how well your visual system works together.
