This is posted with permission from the infants mother, child shall remain nameless for this post.
I've had the honor of working with this, now 7 month old child with severe torticollis. When i first met the child, she was 5 months old, unable to sit up, roll onto her right side without help, and had no ability to turn her head over her right shoulder. On top of the structural problems, there seemed to be a tremendous amount of pressure on her windpipe and her lungs, causing her voice to sound muffled, as if someone was pushing their hand into her chest. She was often quiet, didn't move very much on her own, and appeared uncomfortable.
For treatments, we used a biodynamic craniosacral approach.
After seeing her once a week for 8 weeks, i recieved a report from her mom that she now sits up on her own, rolls, by herself, onto her right side, and can turn her head over her right shoulder. Not only that, she now kicks her feet, waves her arms, babbles joyously and the symmetry of her face has shifted, showing us more of her coherent, beautiful personality. Watching this little life force gaining her ground, gaining her power, right in front of my eyes is such a deeply humbling honor.
Bearing witness to such an early life finding its way through a hard experience is unforgettable, invaluable, and wonderful lesson on the expression of life into our form, our movement, our face, and our sounds.
