Bruce Lipton was one of my instructors at Life Chiropractic College West. Bruce is the modern promoter of the concept of epigenetics. This is the concept that the environment has an effect on our DNA, to oversimplify. Example: bad food can actually change the gene expression (let’s say facial and teeth structures) of your future children.

I just finished two days at the California Chiropractic Association Seaside Symposium. I am now smarter and way inspired!
My favorite classes were the neurology class, the radiology class, the assessments and adjusting class, the talk by the president of my alma mater (Life Chiropractc College West), and the ethics class.
I also got to see “the laser lady,” Janelle who has sold me my clinic and rental fleet pain lasers, as well as I got to meet Matt, the VP of Beck’s Shoes. (Becks opened a new, great store on 41st and Portola, and has a 10% off deal for all my patients. Watch my posts!)

Ra, team spirit!
Once per year the office members get together, usually for a holiday party or dinner. This time, the Office of Sylvia Skefich Doctor of Chiropractic A Professional Corporation got together for a fall brunch at the Walnut Cafe in Santa Cruz then a Design Workshop at Ferrari Flowers.
In attendance was Artemis, our awesome office manager of 2+ years; Lisa, our Tuesday receptionist of 17 years; Toku, our cranio-sacral therapist of one year; and Amber, our massage therapist who has recently returned after a sojourn into full time teaching.
At Ferrari Flowers on River St. in Santa Cruz, Marilyn offers public classes in their beautiful environment, as well as private group classes.
We chose from four categories of activities including how to make: a fall flower arrangement; a kokedama moss ball planting; a succulent garden; or a hanging basket garden. Guess which ones we chose?

I just watched this free movie on a subject that I have followed for decades: vaccinations. About midway into the movie, a Dr. Plotkin, a pro-vaccine researcher is on the stand and says (basically): "There aren't enough data. In the absence of data, there is no proof that causation exists" But the studies are SET UP SO that there is no data. Fascinating....and heart wrenching. Long story short is, though vaccinated kids do not get the diseases that they are vaccinated for, they are A LOT LESS healthy...up to 4 and 5X more likely to die (in Africa) or to get some other medical condition (in America).
