Earlier this week Dr. Kelly and staff attended the world premiere of Viva Pancho! in support of Española Humane!

Viva Pancho is the story of an incredibly brave dog who risked (and almost gave) his life to save his family last summer when an armed intruder invaded his home, putting his family at risk. Pancho stepped up to protect his family and sustained life-threatening injuries. The brave and extremely skilled team at Espanola Humane worked tirelessly to save this hero's life, and were successful.

This epic film is a dedication to the heroic actions of Pancho, as well as his amazing medical team, that will not soon be forgotten 💕

Did you know most dogs and cats are low in Vitamin D?

Around 70–80% of pets are insufficient, even those who seem healthy. Vitamin D plays a major role in immune health, inflammation control, muscle and bone strength, and most importantly - cancer resilience. This is why we include routine Vitamin D testing for all of our patients.

Low Vitamin D has been linked to:
• Cancer
• Chronic kidney and heart disease
• IBD and chronic inflammation
• Poor muscle condition and low energy

The good news:
Vitamin D levels are easy to test and even easier to correct with safe, veterinary-guided supplementation. In many pets, levels improve within 8–10 weeks.

Keeping Vitamin D in the optimal range helps support overall health and may enhance oncology treatment outcomes.

Hello! It's Raidan here showing you that chemotherapy doesn't have to be scary 💕

~ At VCC, our patients have the opportunity to relax on cozy couches right next to their favorite people while receiving IV chemotherapy and other treatments. We know how important it is for our patients to have support from the people they feel the most safe with while undergoing treatment.

Most pets tolerate chemotherapy far better than many people expect - many simply lounge, nap, or enjoy some snuggles during their treatment. Our goal is to make each visit as stress-free as possible for both our patients and our clients. If you ever have questions or concerns about what chemotherapy looks like for pets, we're always here to talk!

With the kids back in school, it’s the perfect time to focus on your pets’ wellness before winter arrives.

Fall is a key season for keeping animals healthy, especially our seniors. Shorter days can make chronic conditions flare up, but regular chiropractic care can help them stay comfortable, mobile, and happy all season long.

Dr. Garber is a certified animal Chiropractor with the AVCA, and visits Veterinary Cancer Care weekly to provide chiropractic and homeopathic care to our patients and pets in the surrounding community.

To schedule a chiropractic visit with Dr. Garber, reach out to us at 505-982-4492, or Dr. Garber directly at 310-804-3811 or drg@drgarbers.com

Finding the right diet for your pet is just as important as finding the right treatment when facing a cancer diagnosis.

This new peer-reviewed study from Cornell University found that dogs that were fed a fresh, whole food diet showed lower levels of advanced glycation end products - compounds associated with aging and chronic disease. They also showed higher levels of antioxidant and protective metabolites. Together, these shifts suggest that dogs that were fed this diet had a metabolic profile more supportive of healthy aging and reduced oxidative stress. These functions play a huge role in preventing cancer and other chronic health conditions.

Read more about the study below:

A new, first-of-its-kind study shows that feeding dogs fresh food can meaningfully impact metabolic health and support healthier aging.

We are so happy to have so many birthdays to celebrate these past few weeks!

Happy belated birthday to Halo! 😇🥳

Halo has been coming to VCC since 2023 for the treatment of Mast cell tumor, and more recently, Hemangiosarcoma that resulted in a splenectomy. She receives personalized therapy through Genomic testing, and an Autologous Cancer Immunotherapy vaccine made from her own tumor.

She is a strong little girl and clearly so very loved by her people!

Who knew laser therapy could be this relaxing?! 😎

In this video you can see Carlos performing cold laser therapy on one of our patients. Our K-laser uses a combination of different wavelengths of light to increase blood flow, stimulate the immune system, and reduce inflammation.

Cold laser has proven to be very helpful for our cancer patients post surgery or local treatment to reduce swelling, pain, and tissue reactions.

These treatments are painless, stress-free, and quick - as shown in this video!

Receiving the news that your pet has cancer can be devastating, but a cancer diagnosis doesn’t have to mean your friend can’t live a fulfilling life. At Veterinary Cancer Care, we strive to find effective treatment options that eradicate and manage cancer while preserving your companion’s energy and personality. Since 2004, Dr. Kelly has been treating pets with cancer and promoting whole-body animal wellness.
