In our last post, we walked through rotating the ASC Ti Blank in exocad®. Now let’s look at how to dial it in using 3shape®.

Once you’ve finalized the anatomy of your abutment design, turn on the Blank Setting. You’ll see a shell of the ASC Ti Blank appear. Rotate that shell until the window is positioned where you want the ASC channel to emerge.

From there, you can fine-tune the angulation (mesial/distal and/or vertically) within the sides and bottom of the window. And don’t forget, you’ve got the full 0–30° range of flexibility, even extending through the top of the window if the case calls for it.

When you’re satisfied, just click next to export and send for milling!

Is there a past case where you wish you had this solution? Do you have a current case where the ability to freely adjust the ASC channel in a custom abutment would make all the difference?

Let’s talk about one of the most important steps in designing ASC custom abutments: rotating the Ti Blank into the proper position in your CAD software. In exocad®, it’s simple once you know where to look:

Switch into “Expert Mode,” then select “Detect Implant Analog Position.” This gives you full control to rotate the Ti Blank until the window lines up with where you want to place the ASC channel. From there, you can move the access channel (mesial/distal and/or vertically) to your ideal location (up to 30° off-axis) within the sides and bottom of the window.

This rotation step ensures your ASC abutments aren’t just functional, but esthetic and are the foundation of the best restoration possible. Stay tuned for Rotating ASC Ti Blanks in 3shape®.

Ready to get started? Now design your ASC Custom Abutment.

When you’re working in CAD, the key is control. With Preat ASC Ti Blanks, you can rotate the blank until the screw channel is positioned exactly where you need it. That flexibility — 360° rotation and up to 30° angulation — means you’re not limited by the blank, you’re designing for the case.
