🌿 Greens / nature scenes are linked with better stress recovery (slower heart rate, lower blood pressure, calmer breathing) and mental recovery (less mental fatigue, better focus)—with higher HRV (a marker of flexibility & calm).

🔵 Bright blue light (especially at night) is alerting - it keeps the brain “on” and can lower vagal measures (HF-HRV). Use blue/bright light in the daytime; go softer/warmer/dimmer at night.

Real-life tweak: Limit evening exposure to cool-blue overheads! You know, the long tube bulbs (fluorescent) and bright blue-white LEDs. Swap to warm-white (2700–3000K) lamps, add a lampshade or dimmer, and turn on Night Shift/Warm Screen after sunset.

🫨🤦‍♀️ Symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, burnout, digestive imbalance, and low resilience are often linked to dysregulation of the vagus nerve - what Polyvagal Theory describes as reduced autonomic flexibility.

While research doesn’t yet study “polyvagal dysfunction” by name, many studies show that acupuncture can improve these same symptoms and enhance markers like heart rate variability - a measure of vagal function.
