🌏 Just wrapped up an incredible OCD Symposium in Singapore!
Over 350 participants from around the world came together for an inspiring, high-energy, and deeply collaborative meeting focused on advancing evidence-based treatment and global dissemination — ensuring that effective care reaches those who need it most.
We were joined by dedicated teams from Australia, New Zealand, China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Nepal, Germany, the United States, and more. The main focus was the Bergen 4-Day Treatment (B4DT) for OCD and how we can build on this model — integrating intention-focused work and expanding applications across anxiety disorders and beyond. This international conference and dissemination effort were made possible through the generous support of Kavlifondet — whose commitment to mental health innovation continues to make a global impact. 💙
A huge thank you to Jackki Yim and Tammie Kwek, our amazing colleagues in Singapore, for organizing this event through the OCD Network of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, with support from the Institute of Mental Health (IMH).
Dr. Bjarne Hansen led with extraordinary insight — sharing the remarkable journey of Norway’s mental health care transformation, the development of B4DT, and exciting new directions for the future of intensive treatment delivery.
There were many moving moments, including a visit to IMH where Bjarne was honored with a tree planting on campus recognizing his contributions to mental health (see photos and plaque). And an especially surreal and touching surprise — portraits presented to both Bjarne and me by our Singapore colleagues.
Next stop: Melbourne, Australia, where we’ll continue our work with The Melbourne Clinic to further strengthen both outpatient and inpatient OCD treatment approaches. More on that soon! 🌿.. also, more on training opportunities for this treatment approach at the OCD & Anxiety Program of Southern California - stay tuned~
