A massive study on vitamin C was done from 1966 through 2012. The studies included over 11,000 subjects. They concluded that vitamin C supplementation WILL NOT PREVENT the common cold and other viral diseases and that taking daily vitamin C supplements was not justified. The review did find that if 1 to 2 g of vitamin C were given shortly after the onset of symptoms, the duration of common colds in adults was reduced by 8% and that in children, the duration of symptoms was reduced by 14%. Not a lot, but still!!
