More About Hillary!
"Hillary Owen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor, licensed in Florida, Texas, and Alabama. Since 2005, Hillary has dedicated her career to serving children, adolescents, and families and empowering them to move forward in healing and confidence. She is the founder and owner of Driftwood Healing, a local mental health therapy practice focused on providing trauma-informed, evidence-based care. Hillary began her career at Highland Park United Methodist Church working with middle and high schoolers and their families. She was tapped to lead a new ministry focused on supporting survivors of abuse, and ultimately implemented a 5-year, multi-million dollar strategic plan to offer no-cost therapy and wrap-around support to that population.
Hillary received her Bachelor of Arts from Southern Methodist University and a Masters in Social Work with a specialty in direct practice with children and families from University of Texas at Arlington. She completed her clinical practicum at the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, providing treatment to victims of severe child abuse and neglect and their caregivers. Most recently, Hillary served as the Clinical Program Manager at New Friends New Life, supervising a team of therapists and overseeing all counseling and case management services for women and children who have been sexually exploited or trafficked. Hillary has been trained in several modalities of treatment, most related to the treatment of traumatic experiences. Hillary is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Certified as well as an EMDR Consultant. She is certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (TF-CBT) and has been trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Hillary is also a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner through the Karyn Purvis Institute for Child Development; she utilizes TBRI in working with parents and caregivers of children from trauma and is passionate about serving foster and adoptive families and adult adoptees.
Hillary was raised in Dothan, AL and has considered the beach a second home throughout her life. In 2023, Hillary returned to the area full-time with her husband and two young children. Hillary has since expanded Driftwood Healing to include additional therapists and has established meaningful community partnerships to be able to provide quality services to more people with lower barriers of access. Hillary currently volunteers as the Mental Health Program Director for the Point Washington Medical Clinic, where she and her team are building a program for the community to access mental healthcare at no cost. Hillary enjoys being outside, hosting friends and family in her home, and is an avid DIYer in her (limited) down time."
