Water. One of life’s necessities. How much do you need? Why are health care providers and health coaches always talking about it? Keep swiping —>
Obviously I’m not talking about ocean water like in the first picture. I’m talking about the importance of drinking enough water to keep your body in good function. Your body is made up of 60% water (up to 80% according to some scientists) and you can see in the other pictures from usgs.gov where the water goes and why you need it. So you’re probably thinking, “Okay, whatever, my body needs water” but consider how you might feel when you are not well hydrated: headaches, joint/muscle pain, fatigue, constipation, chapped lips, dry mouth, dry eye, dry skin (which leads to more wrinkles!), back pain (specifically over the kidneys), urinary tract infections, etc. You might think I’m just spouting off some list of symptoms I read in a medical journal, or see in patients, but those are things I PERSONALLY experience. You see…I’m the queen of dehydration. It’s sad to admit, but true. It has happened gradually as I’ve gotten older and far worse since having to wear masks more frequently. I’ve spent over a year trying & failing, but finally succeeding at staying hydrated. I want you to succeed too, so here we go! {**as always, contact your medical provider if you have other health conditions. Too much water can be harmful to some people with certain heart, kidney, and intestinal conditions.**}
Enough about me, I’m here to ELEVATE YOU! How do you know how much water is right for YOU? A simple calculation you can do at home is divide your body weight in half and that is how many ounces you should drink! For example, if you weigh 200 pounds, your body needs 100oz of water daily. Yes, I know, it sounds like a lot. You think you’ll be drowning or running to the restroom all day. And at first…you might! But it will get better or not be as bad with these two suggestions:
