Why Stress Awareness Is Important:

Stress is a major health issue in the United States. Recent studies show that 3/4 of Americans report moderate to high stress regularly, with 1/3 experiencing extreme stress. Money and work are common stress factors. Stress is increasing in school-aged children, impacting their development.

Raising awareness about prolonged stress is crucial to minimize its effects. Chronic stress is often accepted as normal, but can lead to serious health conditions if not addressed.

Tips for Healthy Stress Management:
Stress is unavoidable but can be managed to protect physical and psychological well-being, especially crucial for chronic stress like substance or mental health disorders. Acknowledge stress and seek support from friends, family, or a professional. Effective stress management techniques include regular exercise, balanced diet, yoga, meditation, and identifying stress sources.

Tips to prepare to spring forward!

To minimize the impact of the time change on your sleep and overall well-being, it is advisable to create a plan. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests the following steps to prepare for the time change:

1.Gradually adjust your bedtime by going to bed 15 or 20 minutes earlier each night leading up to the time change. This will allow your body to acclimate more smoothly.

2.Transition the timing of other daily routines that serve as time cues for your body. For example, consider eating dinner and exercising slightly earlier than usual.

3.On Saturday night, set your clocks ahead one hour in the early evening and maintain your normal bedtime routine.

4.Get some early morning sunlight on Sunday to help regulate your body clock, which impacts sleep and alertness.

5.Be aware of how Daylight Saving Time may affect your body, especially when driving if you feel drowsy on Sunday.

6.Stick to your usual bedtime on Sunday night to ensure you get sufficient rest before the start of the workweek on Monday.
