When was the last time you let yourself just... stop?

Not scroll. Not multitask. Not push through. Just stop.

This is that space.

Most people tell us they feel something shift the moment they walk in—like their nervous system finally got permission to stand down. To stop bracing. To breathe all the way out.

Acupuncture isn't about forcing your body to do anything. It's about creating the conditions where healing can actually happen. Where your system remembers it's safe to rest, repair, and reset.

What would it feel like to finally exhale?

If you're running on fumes and you can't remember the last time you felt calm in your body—let's talk.

It's that time of year when everyone talks about gratitude, so here's mine:

I'm grateful for holiday lights! I love riding my bike (when it's not raining) to see the holiday light displays—especially the tiny quirky ones. I love driving home and the sparkling color they bring to the dark. And I truly appreciate the ones that are on in the early morning cheering me on.

I'm grateful for every single patient who trusted us this year—especially the ones who came in skeptical and left believers.

I'm grateful for our growing team who are excited about Chinese Medicine and creating systems in service of helping more people while having fun.

And I'm grateful for my husband who makes me dinner so I can work later 2 days a week and help all the patients that need to com in after work.

If you've been part of our practice this year—thank you. Truly. You're the reason we love what we do. And if you're reading this thinking "I should finally book that appointment"—yes. You should.

Let's get you feeling better for the new year.

My favorite winter ritual is a cup of chai while taking some extra time to enjoy feeling warm and cozy and not multitasking. I'll have it anytime I want to honor being a little quieter in the winter—in the morning (without my phone), at lunch on the weekend sitting in the sun that comes through our font window when it's out, after dinner (herbal so I can sleep).

It sounds simple. But it's become my way of honoring winter—the season that asks us to slow down, go inward, and nourish ourselves from the inside out.

In Chinese Medicine, winter is Kidney season. The time to rebuild our deepest reserves. To rest. To restore.

And honestly? Most of us are terrible at this.

We push through. We override our body's signals. We treat winter like it's just an inconvenience. But your body knows better. It's asking you to slow down.

What's one small winter ritual you could add to your life this week?

Maybe it's:
- A 10-minute foot soak before bed
- A cup of warm tea in the morning before you look at your phone
- Actually going to bed 30 minutes earlier
- Booking an acupuncture appointment to support your body through the season Your body will thank you.

You wake up tired. You push through the day on fumes. And by evening, you're either wired or completely depleted.

Sound familiar?

This is what burnout looks like in your body and it's often connected to adrenal fatigue. Your stress response has been on overdrive for so long that your system can't keep up anymore.

You might also be dealing with:

😴 Trouble waking up, even after a full night's sleep
😴 Afternoon crashes that demand caffeine
😴 Brain fog and trouble concentrating
😴 Cravings for salt or sugar
😴 Low libido
😴 Difficulty recovering from stress or illness

In Chinese Medicine, this shows up as Kidney deficiency—the deep reserves of your vitality are running low.

Winter is the season of the Kidney system, which makes it the BEST time to restore what's been depleted. If you start now, you can rebuild your foundation before spring asks even more of you.

2 a.m. and you're wide awake. Again.

You were exhausted when you went to bed. But now your mind is racing, your body won't settle, and you're calculating how many hours of sleep you might get if you fall asleep right now.

Sound familiar?

Insomnia shows up in different ways:
😳 Trouble falling asleep (mind won't turn off)
😳 Waking up multiple times through the night
😳 Waking too early and can't get back to sleep
😳 Light, restless sleep that doesn't actually restore you

In Chinese Medicine, insomnia isn't just a sleep problem—it's a sign that your body's systems are out of balance. Could be your Heart and mind aren't communicating. Could be your Liver is overactive. Could be Kidney depletion (especially common in winter).

We don't just knock you out with herbs. We figure out why you can't sleep and address it at the root.

Imagine waking up actually rested. Not just functional—rested.

That's what we're working toward.

That low-level hum of anxiety that never quite goes away? The fear that something bad is about to happen, even when everything's fine?

In Chinese Medicine, fear is the emotion of the Kidney system—and winter is when it tends to surface most.

You might be feeling:
🙀 Generalized anxiety with no clear trigger
🙀 Panic attacks or heart palpitations
🙀 Fear of failure, inadequacy, or the unknown
🙀 A sense of being ungrounded or unsafe
🙀 Difficulty making decisions (frozen by worry)

The darkness and cold of winter amplify this. Less light. More isolation. The Kidney system is already taxed by the season—and when it's depleted, fear takes over.

When the Kidney system is depleted or out of balance, fear takes over. It's not "all in your head". It's a signal that your body's foundational energy needs support.

☯️ Acupuncture helps calm the nervous system, strengthen the Kidneys, and restore a sense of inner safety and groundedness.

🌿 People are often surprised at how effective Chinese Herbal Medicine is for regulating the nervous system, reducing stress, and supporting clear thinking.

Don't white-knuckle your way through the darkest season. Let's support your system, and stop winter from deepening the anxiety.

You don't have to live in constant fight-or-flight.

Overwhelmed? Start with a breath.

Slowing your breathing—even just a few conscious inhales and exhales—can shift your nervous system from high-alert into healing mode.

It's simple, free, and available anywhere: at the breakfast table, with family, in the car, or during a late-night scroll through your to-do list.

That deeper, calmer breath is what we call "rest and digest"—the space where healing, repair, and clarity can happen.

☯️ Acupuncture and 🌿herbal remedies support this shift, too. Every acupuncture session invites your body out of survival mode and into restoration. And a custom formula allows you to support your nervous system in between sessions with potent medicine you take twice a day. If you're feeling tight, tired, or stretched thin, and know you're gonna need some support in the new year, we're here to help you recalibrate.

Let's make space for rest, after the busiest part of the season.

12/24/2025

As we head deeper into winter and some time off, I want you to know something:

It's okay to slow down.
It's okay to say no to things that drain you.
It's okay to rest more than you think you "should."
It's okay to ask for help.

Your body isn't asking you to be perfect. It's asking you to listen.

And if what you're hearing is: "I need support. I need care. I need someone who understands what I'm going through"— we're here.

Acupuncture and herbal medicine aren't just about needles and tea. It's about giving your body the space, the support, and the care it needs to heal.

Let's make this winter different. Let's make it not about pushing through. But about actually restoring.

Allow yourself some extra me time over the holidays, and schedule yourself some appointments to support you in the new year.

We're so grateful you're here. Thank you for trusting us with your care. Here's to a nourishing winter.

And share this with someone who needs permission to slow down.

🎉 Just a quick note to remind you...Today, Tuesday, December 23 is our last day treating patients in 2025. Then we're taking some time off to unplug, recharge, and celebrate, not necessarily in that order. We hope you do the same in whatever ways feed your soul. 🌙🥂✨

☯️ We'll be back in the office treating patients Monday, January 5, 2026.

📆 If you want to start the year off right with some acupuncture, our online booking system is open through February: https://thrive-acupuncture.janeapp.com/. We provide the acupuncture and herbs and all that good healing stuff, but together we help each other THRIVE. And we're looking forward to continuing to raise each other up through the difficult, challenging times AND the hopeful and insightful healthy triumphs, most of the time with a dose of healing laughter❣️

The holidays are supposed to be joyful. So why does your body feel like it's in a vice grip?

Family gatherings. Financial pressure. Social obligations. Old dynamics that haven't changed in 30 years. The expectation to be cheerful when you're barely holding it together.

Your nervous system is maxed out. You might be noticing:
● Jaw clenching or teeth grinding
● Shoulder and neck tension that won't release
● Digestive issues (stress hits the gut hard)
● Insomnia or restless sleep
● Headaches
● Irritability or emotional overwhelm

☯️ Acupuncture helps your body downshift from "fight or flight" into "rest and repair." It gives your nervous system permission to stand down—even when your environment is still chaotic.

🌿 People are often surprised at how effective Chinese Herbal Medicine is for regulating the nervous system. It can be a really helpful part of creating an upward spiral of healing and rebalancing because you go home with a weeks worth of potent personalized medicine that you take twice a day.

You can't always control the chaos. But you can support your body through it.

We have appointments available through the 23. Come in before the big family gathering. Your body will thank you.

🎉 A quick heads up that this is our last 2 days in the office before we take some time to rest and recharge. We're here through Tuesday, December 23, and then we'll be back Monday, January 5, 2025.

If you don't see an appointment that works for you in the online booking system (https://thrive-acupuncture.janeapp.com/--Link in Bio), call, email, or put yourself on the waitlist and we'll keep an eye out for you. This time of year we have cancellations because people are sick (thanks for keeping your germs to yourself) so we are pretty good at getting peopled scheduled off the waitlist.
