This month, we are celebrating the incredible women who lead, nurture, and inspire our community. Our very own Malissa Rodriguez, Director at 5-12 Learning Academy in Sapulpa, shares a powerful reflection on the mentors who shaped her life.

From a young age, it was the wisdom of her paternal grandmother that instilled a fearless spirit in her—teaching her that the only true barrier to success is fear itself.

Lifting as we climb" wasn't just a motto for Mary Church Terrell, it was a mission to ensure no mother or child was left behind.

As the first president of the National Association of Colored Women (NACW), Mary Church Terrell recognized a critical need: working Black mothers were excluded from white facilities. In response, her organization pioneered Day Nurseries, the very precursor to the modern daycare centers we know today.

She believed that lifting our children through care and education was the only way to move our entire community forward. Today, we honor her legacy by continuing to provide a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for the next generation of leaders. 🎓

This week, we are proud to feature Dr. Evelyn Moore, a true pioneer who proved that the foundation of a child's future begins long before they reach grade school. From her landmark work with the Perry Preschool Project to founding the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI), Dr. Moore has spent her life ensuring that Black children receive the high-quality start they deserve.

She taught us that when we invest in our youngest learners, we aren't just teaching lessons, we are building the bedrock of justice and liberation for generations to come.
