Difficult veins don’t have to mean a stressful blood draw.
This patient shared that our phlebotomist handled a challenging draw with care—excellent technique, respect, and kindness can change the whole experience.
Helpful tips if you have “hard-to-draw” veins:
1. Hydrate well (unless you’re instructed to fast differently)
2. Stay warm—cold can make veins harder to access
3. Avoid heavy exercise right before your appointment
4. Tell your phlebotomist what has worked for you in the past
What helps you feel more comfortable during bloodwork—clear communication, gentle technique, or a calm pace?
