I was talking with a patient today and she told me she’s considering a new job- been doing multiple interviews. So I asked- why do you want to leave the job that you have now?
S T R E S S ! I applauded her for taking action and we talked about work/life balance and priorities. Recognizing it is the first step!

Removing unnecessary stress is one of my own ongoing goals. It took me a long time to even recognize it. Slow down, enjoy what you do, check-in daily on your attitude and always choose gratitude (speaking to myself here 😂)!

Work was a big stressor for me 3+ years ago. Now I continue to coach and I’m working PRN back in oncology and I love it! I’m in control of when and how much I work (35 years later 😜)

Political news! It literally makes my heart rate increase and I feel anxious. My way of removing that stress? For the most part I don’t watch anything political on TV. I found a few unbiased news sources via email and podcasts. This may not be for everyone and some feel I’m being a bit of an ostrich (burying my head in the sand)- but it feels much better to me. I can’t control what happens in the world globally, in this country, in this state or in this town. What I can control is how I react and what I allow in.

Let’s talk cholesterol….

Many people die of heart attacks and have normal cholesterol. Those with higher cholesterol often live longer, especially as they age. Yet we have been told this vital molecule (that what cholesterol is) is a ticking time bomb.

The real danger was never cholesterol itself, it was INFLAMMATION.

Cholesterol is the raw material for your hormones, brain function, and cell repair.

Instead of addressing diet and lifestyle, the drug industry put millions on drugs that deplete it!! Created a BILLION-DOLLAR market for lifelong customers….

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted!

We took a 6-week sabbatical from working this summer and did an incredible road trip to my homeland- Alberta, Canada. 🇨🇦

It’s hard to find just one nature shot to show the many miles and parks we experienced and the true beauty of it all.

The time away was a good break- time to reflect on what lies ahead. When life is now the “shorter end” of time on earth it makes you reflect on priorities and realize just how quickly time marches on!

My biggest take away- time with family and intentionality.

I will always be drawn to nature as it connects me to the Creator and truly brings a sense of incredible peace.

But my hearts fullness is wrapped in those “people” pics and the ones that are my everything!

I hope you all had a wonderful summer! I encourage you to take a moment when you can, shut out the noise and busyness around you, and purposefully reflect on what matters most to you 😊

🤣🤣 Truth is I’ve always loved chocolate since I was a little girl. I am admittedly a sugar addict and my gut microbiome craves it (not in a good way). I’ve learned to ditch milk chocolate for dark and totally prefer it now. But, it can be a slippery slope when I fall off the bandwagon and it’s time to let it go again!

What small things can you remove from your typical diet that you know you shouldn’t be eating?

What types of products could you do without that may contain harmful additives and chemicals?

For me, I removed a few things from my diet – seed oils, red dye, potato chips and fast food by 90%. Now limiting myself to a Coke zero on a very minimal occasion (trying to kick that one completely).

I’m using the EWG app to check any type of product that I would apply to my skin prior to buying. Also used that app to help me toss many things I don’t want to use that can cause harm (hormone disrupting, potential toxins that can lead to cancer etc.).

I quit using bleach in my wash or as a cleaner. I stopped using any round up on weeds as this then soaks into the ground (we have a well)…. I could add more but wanted to show how easy it truly can be!

Also- read everything on packages (food, cosmetics, cleaners)….if you don’t know what it is- it’s not likely anything that is beneficial!

While "sugar-free" products often seem healthy, they can be considered bad for you because many contain artificial sweeteners which have ((negative health impacts)) like altering gut bacteria, causing digestive issues often linking to increased cravings or weight gain, even though they contain no calories; additionally, sugar-free foods often lack essential nutrients found in naturally sweetened options.
