🌍 Honored to unveil the Dr. Karen A. Holbrook USF World Suite on the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus. This is a tribute to a visionary leader whose impact spans continents and campuses.

As the first Senior Vice President of USF World and former Regional Chancellor of USF Sarasota-Manatee (2018–2024), Dr. Holbrook didn’t just build programs, she built pathways. Through the endowed Karen and James Holbrook Study Abroad Scholarship fund, she helped make international experiences accessible to students in ways that align with their academic and career goals.

This suite is more than an office space. It’s a promise: Global learning starts here.

On Friday, we attended the University of South Florida Social Work Job Fair, connecting with both bachelor’s and master’s level students who are passionate about making a difference in child welfare.

It’s genuinely encouraging and invigorating to witness the energy, compassion, and commitment these future social workers bring. Their dedication to supporting children and families reminds us why this work matters so deeply.

The future of social work is in good hands—and it’s incredibly promising. 🩵

We left the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) Annual Conference feeling energized, inspired, and deeply connected to a shared purpose.

Across the country, dedicated professionals are showing up every day to strengthen families, protect children, and build brighter futures, and this week was a powerful reminder that we are not doing this work alone. We are part of a passionate, committed community, aligned in mission and driven by impact. Together, we’re learning, growing, and pushing forward because the work matters, and the children and families we serve deserve nothing less.

Grateful to be part of this movement. Let’s keep going. 🩵

Behind every future social worker is a moment where learning becomes real.

Through internships at All Star, students like Ciarra step into the work alongside our clinical team, gaining hands-on experience in trauma-informed care while supporting children in foster care. They are not just observing. They are building the skills, confidence, and compassion it takes to show up for children who need it most.

Because when we invest in the next generation of social workers, we strengthen the future of foster care itself. 🩵

Thank you to The Learning Cottage: Sarasota for being our partner in the Giving Challenge! The Learning Cottage provides early education for children, aiming to ensure each child experiences daily success and develops healthy habits, a strong sense of community, and the foundational skills for lifelong learning. We appreciate your support! 🩵

We are excited to invite you to join us in a special Giving Challenge to support children in foster care right here in our community. The giving challenge is for 24 hours only, starting April 15th at noon until April 16th at noon. Through this partnership, we have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children who often enter foster care with very few personal belongings. Together, we can help provide comfort, stability, and a sense of being valued and cared for.

If you prefer to donate items, we are collecting new, unused items:
Playdough
Water based paint
Fresh paint brushes
Popsicle sticks
Fresh kinetic sand
Felt tip markers
Colored pencils
White butcher paper roll
Craft kits (Beads, bracelets, poke art etc.)

This Child Abuse Prevention Month, we’re reminded that healing starts with being seen, understood, and supported.

Through our Assessment & Life Skills Center, children and teens entering foster care are welcomed into a space that feels safe and familiar. Here, they receive thoughtful assessments and hands-on life skills through the Safe Children Coalition that help them build confidence, stability, and hope.

Because prevention isn’t just about stopping harm.
It’s about creating the conditions for healing. 💙
