🎉 We're thrilled to announce that Sarasota Memorial is moving forward with plans to open an outpatient endoscopy and digestive health center next to its SMH-Venice Campus!

Since SMH-Venice opened in late 2021, demand for gastrointestinal procedures has grown dramatically — nearly quadrupling from just over 1,000 in fiscal year 2022 to 3,762 in fiscal 2025. This new outpatient center reflects SMH’s continued commitment to meeting the evolving health care needs of the rapidly growing south Sarasota County region.

💬 “The need for screenings, both routine outpatient and inpatient, has been increasing every year,” said SMH-Venice President Sharon Roush. "Expanding our capacity will reduce wait times and the amount of time from screening to diagnosis, ensuring timely care for all of our patients."

👶 As a new parent, few things feel more scary than SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). For years, rates stayed high — until one simple approach made a huge difference: Safe Sleep.

Follow the ABCs of Safe Sleep to keep your baby safe:
💙 Alone – Both a baby and parent rolling in bed can cause a fatal accident
💙 Back – Babies sleep safest on their backs
💙 Crib – Keep the crib clear of pillows, blankets, toys and bumpers.

A few simple steps can make a lifetime of difference.

❤️ Announced during American Heart Month, this prestigious honor highlights exceptional cardiovascular care, including higher survival rates, fewer complications, lower readmissions, better patient experience and lower costs.

As a nationwide shortage of obstetricians continues and hospitals across the country close labor and delivery units, Sarasota Memorial is stepping up — expanding access to ensure every expecting mother, regardless of medical or financial circumstances, can receive compassionate support and expert prenatal care.

🙌 Today, SMH, with the support of First Physicians Group providers, opened its new Pregnancy and Wellness Center on Clark Road!

What this means for women in our community:
💙 A dedicated medical home for pregnancy care
💙 Care led by a board-certified OB/GYN and team of experienced clinicians
💙 Support for high-risk pregnancies and underinsured/uninsured patients
💙 Continuous support from prenatal care through postpartum recovery

Because access to safe, high-quality prenatal care isn’t optional; it’s essential for a healthy, growing community!
