๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Congrats to our latest : Travis Hall, HVAC Tech in Facilities Management!

๐Ÿ’™ While driving to South Carolina for a family funeral, Travis witnessed a serious accident in the middle of the night. A car ran a stop sign and collided with a pick-up truck, which spun into the grass median and caught fire with a man trapped inside. Without hesitation, Travis ran to the burning vehicle and pulled the man to safety.

The man was in shock and visibly injured, so Travis remained by his side until help arrived. Thanks to his quick thinking and bravery, the man was removed from immediate danger!

๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿธ All alcohol is made the same way โ€” and thereโ€™s no โ€œhealthy alcohol.โ€

Experts with the SMH RENEW Program share that alcohol adds empty calories, disrupts sleep, affects energy, hydration and weight, and increases the risk of chronic disease.

This holiday season, enjoy alcohol as a treat, not a habit:
โœจ Mind the sugar content and calorie count
โœจ Avoid drinking on an empty stomach
โœจ Stay hydrated
โœจ Opt for a โ€œmocktailโ€

โœจ Non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) accounts for 70โ€“80% of all bladder cancers? It can be difficult to treat due to high rates of recurrence and progression, often leading to surgeries that can significantly impact quality of life.

Sarasota Memorialโ€™s Kolschowsky Research and Education Institute is participating in two new clinical trials โ€” ABLE-22 and ABLE-32 โ€” exploring a potential gene therapy alternative to bladder-removal surgery.

Led locally by Robert I. Carey, MD, PhD, FACS, with Sarasota Memorialโ€™s First Physicians Group and the Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute, both studies are evaluating nadofaragene firadenovec โ€” an investigational therapy that uses a safe, non-replicating virus to deliver a gene into bladder cancer cells. Once delivered, the gene helps the body produce interferon alfa-2b, a protein that strengthens the immune system's ability to target cancer cells, slows the growth of new blood vessels that feed tumors and helps kill cancer cells directly.
