Never have I ever .. had a patient walk into my office and say,
“Hey Christina, I was really hoping for high cholesterol this year.”

But I have had plenty look at me and say,
“I just love food.”

And honestly? I get it. Like I love food too!!

Because food is emotional.
Food is cultural.
Food is connection.

It’s the smell in the kitchen.
It’s family traditions.
It’s stress relief after a long day.

We don’t want the diagnosis.
We just love the comfort.

And that’s exactly why the events where we’re actually cooking and giving away food in glass containers like this one last week with the Mental Health Empowerment Project, Inc.— where you could smell the spices, the real ingredients — spark more conversation than any lecture ever could!

Check out Health Is Home for more info on future events 👏

Slow Down Sunday.

This little hand in mine.
No talk of emails.
No work.
Maybe not even the gym.

Just focusing on the feeling of this little hand in mine.

The power of mindfulness.
The power of reflection.
The power of slowing down.

Sometimes our health goals need just a moment to be reached through reflection, balance, presence, and rest.

Secret Saturday/- I deserve dessert today 🤤

Let’s normalize this:
You can care about your health and still eat dessert.

The goal isn’t deprivation — it’s frequency and intention.

Dessert every once in a while = enjoyment
Dessert every night = habit

Health works best when it fits into real life, not when it feels like punishment or a constant reward.

Freaky Friday .. 😱

Ring around the rosie..

Ring around the rosie – rash
Pocket full of posies – herbs believed to ward off illness
Ashes, ashes – cremation
We all fall down – death

Some say “Ring Around the Rosie” is about the plague.
The verdict is still out on that.

What isn’t up for debate?
Throughout history, pandemics have existed—and likely always will.

The healthier our bodies are, the less we suffer from their consequences.
Lower chronic disease means better resilience against stress, illness, and even the next pandemic.

Healthy bodies weather storms better.

Wake Up Wednesday 👏

Did you click on this picture?
Why?

The light? The vibe? The feeling it gave you?

Now ask yourself this —
are you choosing food the same way you choose what you click on?

Bright colors.
Pretty packaging.
Words like heart healthy, whole grain, natural.

Marketing works because it triggers emotion, not truth.

If we don’t pause, we buy food the same way we scroll —
fast, distracted, and influenced.

Today’s reminder: flip the package over.
Question the claim.
Don’t let marketing make the choice for you.

Wanting better health won’t beat better marketing…
unless we wake up 👏

Check out our blog post for a deeper dive into this topic and how this shift in perspective can help you change your health!

Truthful Tuesday-the truth is I don’t love mornings. But the truth is the thought of having to start my day with a pill box full of pills like my grandmother did is a hard I refuse to choose willingly.

The truth is your movement routine does not have to look like this. You don’t need a gym but what you do need to do is to stop doing what hasn’t worked.

That dusty gym equipment you keep saying you’re going to get to… That’s not working..and the truth Is humans were built to move.

The truth is life is about choosing your hard and as hard as it was to roll my sleepy self out of bed this morning long before our first patient, this is the hard I choose.

What is your truth today?

Great community programs launching with our non profit this month!! Bringing health home to the community 🥰

We are putting the glass containers you have donated to great use this month !

Eating Healthy on a Budget will start as a closed, small-group event at the beautiful Mosaic Village in partnership with Wildwood Programs and dietician Emily Pierce Horstman.

Our hope is to expand this in the very near future into an open, public event as we finalize logistics and determine the best way to serve the broader community.

Mosaic Village is a truly beautiful space, and we’re excited about the potential to welcome more people !

* if you have containers that we have not picked up, please reach out to us so we can make that happen🥰
