When working with frozen ICSI embryos, timing and uterine environment have to be exact. That means every recip is carefully evaluated the morning of transfer, and sometimes… that means making the hard call to wait.

While age can impact fertility, many older mares are still capable of producing high-quality embryos—especially with the right management and veterinary support.

What matters more than age alone:
• Overall health & body condition
• Uterine health
• Hormonal balance
• Consistent reproductive management

We’ve seen older mares continue to produce successfully when everything else is optimized—and in some cases, embryo transfer can be a game changer in extending their reproductive potential.

Reproductive technology has created more opportunities than ever for breeding programs, and Transvaginal Aspiration (TVA) is one of the tools helping mares produce embryos when traditional breeding isn’t possible.

TVA allows veterinarians to retrieve oocytes (eggs) directly from the o***y so they can be fertilized in a lab and transferred into recipient mares.

This process has helped many performance mares continue their careers while still contributing genetically to the next generation.
