Wesley Health Care Center Resident, Don Scull, a Vietnam Veteran, who served as a medic in the Air Force, traveled alongside his brother Herb on a Patriot Flight from Albany to Washington, D.C.

Capital District Patriot Flight Inc a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization, is dedicated to honoring America’s veterans by providing them the opportunity—at no cost—to visit the memorials that reflect their service and sacrifice. These day trips are especially meaningful for senior veterans, including those who may have limited opportunities for future travel.

Don’s journey was shared with over 60 local veterans, including one World War II veteran. During their visit, participants spent time reflecting at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as the Vietnam, Korean War, World War II, Navy, and Marine memorials, each stop carrying deep personal meaning.

Throughout the day, Don was supported by compassionate volunteers who provided both medical and ambulatory assistance, ensuring he could fully participate in every moment. A particularly touching highlight was receiving letters from local school children thanking him for his service, letters he now proudly displays in his room.

It was more than just a trip; it was a meaningful tribute and a day of reflection.
