Craniosacral therapy is gentle enough for newborn infants.
Releasing any tight areas in their body helps their development both physically and neurologically.

Every year I take a class to continue learning about Craniosacral therapy. This past weekend I went to Lori Hendrickson’s infant CST workshop and learned some great nuggets of wisdom from her many years in practice. I can’t wait to incorporate them into my work with babies.

Craniosacral therapy is a whole body treatment.

The CRANIOSACRAL SYSTEM is made up of the bones, membranes, and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

The brain, brainstem, and spinal cord make up the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM.

Therefore,

The INTEGRITY of the central nervous system is
directly affected by
the HEALTH AND PROPER FUNCTIONING
of the craniosacral system.

Since the central nervous system is the body’s
MASTER SWITCHBOARD
that INFLUENCES all other BODY SYSTEMS such as:

digestive,
respiratory,
circulatory/heart,
endocrine/hormones,
reproductive,
immune,
lymphatic,
etc.

RESTORING and MAINTAINING
the MEMBRANES and FLUID

Me: “I’m a Craniosacral Therapist”

You: “A crane-what? What the heck is that?”

Me: “It’s a big word for a specific technique of gentle bodywork.”

To help understand a little better- Let’s break down the title:

The first part of the word CRANIO (crane-EE-oh) comes from the word cranium or skull. The bony structure of your head.

The second part of the word SACRAL (say-crawl) comes from the word sacrum- the last bone of your vertebrae or spine- commonly referred to as the tailbone.

Craniosacral therapy works with the soft tissues and fluid of the head and spine called the CRAINIOSACRAL SYSTEM.
