We had a packed house for a recent Friday matinee at The Meadows. Residents love having an onsite movie theater, where they can comfortably watch a film on the big screen—right in our community. The movie theater is just one of the many amenities we offer at The Meadows!

We introduced the Family Feud game to our activities schedule at The Meadows. And oh my gosh, the residents had so much fun! We played for an hour, and they still wanted more.

About 22 participants showed up to play. We expect to have a lot more next time!

Here at The Meadows, we have a pretty big turnout for our once-a-month Catholic Communion service. We also host other services, including a non-denominational Communion service as well as a Methodist Communion service.

Residents enjoy having a variety of services to choose from. Come to one or come to them all!

Residents in our Southview communities look forward to spring for warmer temps and time outside in the fresh air. It’s also when we start planning ideas for our community gardens, which is appropriate as April is National Garden Month.

Soon, we’ll be planting flowers, herbs, and vegetables in our raised garden beds and reaping the benefits of our harvest. Gardening not only improves strength and flexibility, but it’s also a natural stress reliever and mood booster, so residents really love it!

We can’t wait to get planting!

Our talented residents at The Meadows participated in a new activity to make small fleece tie pillows. These crafts of comfort will be given to those in Broda medical wheelchairs, so they can rest their heads and necks with ease.

Next up, we’ll be making fleece tie lap blankets for those in wheelchairs at The Meadows. We also plan to make full-sized blankets for those entering hospice.

“May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you wherever you go.” — Irish blessing

Last month, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day at The Meadows with snacks, beverages, games, and live entertainment. How lucky we are to have such a great community full of residents to share in the fun!

All throughout April we celebrate National Move More Month, a time to get up and move for health and happiness.

Physical movement for seniors is important for strengthening bones and muscles, improving balance, and reducing the risk of chronic illnesses. While regular exercise can be challenging for those with physical limitations, our Meadows community understands that. And we make a point of offering a range of activities and classes designed for seniors of all abilities for all-around safety and wellness.

Is there a limit to how many Girl Scout cookies a person can buy? The answer is no!

Local Girl Scouts stopped by The Meadows community and set up a table to sell cookies, and residents were overjoyed! We loaded up on favorite flavors like Thin Mints®, Tagalongs®, Samoas®, and more to support our local troop while helping teach these young ladies about business, communication, and money management.

Spring is finally in the air. And residents in our Southview Senior Communities will soon be tending to the garden beds we cultivate each year, growing a variety of flowers, vegetables, and herbs. To celebrate National Garden Month, we want to highlight some of the health benefits of gardening, especially for seniors.

When taken correctly, medications improve our lives in a variety of ways. April 1–7 is Medication Safety Week and a good time to:

• Make a list of any medications you’re on, so you know when and how to take them.
• Be aware of how your medications interact with food or other medications.
• Read labels to ensure you are taking medications as prescribed and know of the benefits and potential side effects.
• Properly store medications in a cool, dry location.
• Safely dispose of expired medications.

And be sure to talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions about any medications you’re taking.
