This simple yet powerful tip holds true no matter the season:

Ask for Help and Accept the Help when Offered.

Caregiving is a journey that requires support. Recognizing that you don’t have to do it all alone is the first step toward self-care and preventing burnout.

Need someone to pick up groceries? Ask!

A neighbor offers to sit for an hour? Accept it!

Prioritizing your well-being allows you to be the best possible caregiver for your loved one.

Caregiver Tip: Protect Your Peace

Not every comment deserves your energy. Breathe and let go. Redirect negativity by focusing on the positives. Be sure to prioritize self-care: Rest, pray, and refuel—you can’t pour from an empty cup, and its important to find ways to refill and reenergize.

The holidays should be spent at home, not in a hospital waiting room. This is one of the most critical ways Hospice Savannah helps families during this season:

Avoid Holiday ER Visits: With careful monitoring and proactive care, we help families avoid unnecessary trips to the emergency room.

Our expert team is always monitoring and managing symptoms right where your loved one is most comfortable—at home. We are here 24/7, so you never have to face a crisis alone.

Caregiver Tip: Prepare Visitors

Let guests know what to expect so they can show compassion. A good introduction works better than a memory test: Introduce visitors in a clear and friendly manner.

“I’m your niece, Mary, Susan’s daughter.” works better than “Remember me?”
