Thank you to everyone who donated to our 6th Annual Toy Drive!

This year the picture looks a little different as it was requested we donate gifts unwrapped for the kids so that mothers could wrap them themselves. As parents, we love that the Mothers could experience this moment and hope it brought joy during a difficult time. While this made it harder to display everything (including a large amount of clothes that we couldn’t figure out how to display in the picture, gift cards, nearly 20 hand knit blankets, and a check to Safe Shelter), please know all items were received with great appreciation.

We are truly grateful for the generosity, kindness and support we received to have another successful toy drive and hope the kids and mother feel some excitement and happiness at a time that’s likely been hard for them and their family.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Dochney Counseling…which means it’s time for our 6th annual toy drive!

We will be collecting toys, gift cards, etc. until Friday, December 12th that will be delivered to SAFE Shelter Center for Domestic Violence Services. If you’d like to help us try to make this tough time a little brighter for some of the families going through challenging times you can leave a new, unwrapped, toy under the tree at our office, send a message to our Dochney Counseling, LLC page or text Elizabeth at (912)224-8609 so we can coordinate picking up your donation.

Happy Sunday everyone! Dochney Counseling is excited to welcome a new therapist, Adam Specjal, LCSW. Adam’s clinical focus includes performance issues related to high achievers, social and generalized anxiety (chronic worry), mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, romantic relationships, and parenting challenges. He primarily utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients reduce unnecessary suffering and find meaning and joy in their lives.

He also just completed an extensive training in EFT for couples and is very interested in providing couples therapy as a sizable chunk of his caseload! He will be accepting clients with BCBS, The Care Network, and self-pay.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who donated to our 5th annual toy drive for SAFE Shelter, Center for Domestic Violence Services, Inc. and Family Promise of the Coastal Empire, Inc. Your kindness and support will bring smiles and hope to children and families who deserve a moment of joy during difficult times.

Every Barbie, bicycle, remote control car, and other toys donated will brighten a child’s holiday and remind their parent(s) that they are surrounded by love and care. Your generosity makes a real difference in our local community and we couldn’t have done it without our donors. Together we were able to provide all of the toys on the wish list, clothing for each child, hand knit blankets, everything on the Mom’s wish list, and a generous donation to SAFE Shelter, Center for Domestic Violence Services, Inc. itself from a very special donor. In addition to all that, last week we were able to donate plenty of toys to Family Promise of the Coastal Empire - Bryan County as well!

The gifts for Family Promise of the Coastal Empire, Inc. have been delivered! One more week to go for the toy drive for Safe Shelter!

Happy Monday! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday last week and wanted to provide a quick update. Family of Promise has asked us to deliver the toys next week for the parents at the shelter to “shop” through the donations and select gifts for their kids. We will need all gifts for Family of Promise donated by this Friday, December 6, 2024. They currently have all ages, from babies to teenagers in need of gifts for the holiday.

The toy drive for Safe Shelter will conclude the following Friday, December 13, 2024 so we can get the gifts wrapped and delivered by December 16, 2024.
