We're never ready to hear we have Cancer but we don't have to live in fear.

Reducing the fear of cancer involves a multi-faceted approach, including seeking support from others, practicing relaxation and mindfulness, staying informed and engaged with your healthcare team, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Talking to friends, family, or a professional, and participating in a support group can provide comfort and reduce feelings of isolation.

Seek emotional and social support
Talk to others and share your fears with close friends, family, or a spiritual adviser.

Join a support group
Connect with others who have similar experiences in a support group.

Churches are a great place to start!

Talk to a professional
Consider counseling, which can be one-on-one or group therapy, to manage anxiety and distress. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can also be very effective.

Can we walk away from Cancer? Maybe we can.....

Benefits of walking for cancer prevention
Reduced risk: Studies show that regular physical activity, including light-intensity activities like walking, is linked to a lower risk for several types of cancer.

Recommended guidelines: The American Cancer Society recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity (like a brisk walk) per week to help lower cancer risk.

Brisk pace is effective: A brisk walking pace has been associated with a lower risk of certain cancers.

Benefits of walking for cancer patients and survivors
Reduces side effects: Walking can help manage side effects of cancer treatment, such as fatigue, anxiety, and depression.

Improves quality of life: It can also improve appetite, sleep, and overall quality of life during and after treatment.

Lowers risk of recurrence: For cancer survivors, regular exercise, including walking, is associated with a reduced risk of cancer recurrence or secondary cancers.

Increases survival rate: Studies show that cancer survivors who walk at a faster pace have a lower risk of death from any cause compared to those who walk slowly.
