Mouth cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the tissues of the mouth or throat, with key symptoms including a sore that doesn't heal, a lump, or a white or red patch. Major risk factors include to***co and heavy alcohol use, sun exposure to the lips, and infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV). -A white or red patch on the gums, tongue, or inside of the mouth

-Pain or numbness in the mouth, face, or neck without a clear cause
-Difficulty chewing, swallowing, talking, or moving the tongue or jaw

-Swelling of the jaw or a loose tooth
-Persistent bad breath

Causes and risk factors
- To***co use

-Using smokeless to***co
Alcohol consumption: Heavy and frequent drinking is a significant risk factor, especially when combined with to***co use.

Excessive sun exposure: This increases the risk of lip cancer.
Genetics: A family history of oral cancer is a risk factor.
Poor diet and hygiene: These can also contribute to the risk.

Let's take a look at the types of Cancer Treatment options.

Cancer treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy, among others. The best approach depends on the type and stage of cancer and is determined in consultation with a medical team, often through a process called shared decision-making. Treatment can also involve hormonal therapy, stem cell transplants, and targeted therapies, along with supportive or palliative care for symptom management.

Common cancer treatments

Surgery
An operation to physically remove the cancerous tumor and surrounding tissue.

Chemotherapy
Using drugs, taken orally or intravenously, to kill cancer cells or slow their growth. Some drugs interfere with a cell's ability to make new DNA, while others are designed to target specific genetic mutations within the cancer cells.

Radiation therapy
Using high-energy rays, like X-rays, to kill cancer cells. This can be external (using a machine that moves around the body) or internal (using a source placed inside or near the tumor).

Immunotherapy:
Helping the body's own immune system recognize and fight cancer cells.

Hormonal therapy
Blocking or lowering the amount of hormones that certain cancer cells need to grow.

Targeted therapy
Drugs that target specific genetic mutations in cancer cells.

Stem cell transplant
Replacing bone marrow cells that have been damaged by high-dose chemotherapy or radiation. It is most often used for blood cancers.

Did you know we offer Immunotherapy. We do!

What Is Immunotherapy?

Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses the power of your bodyโ€™s own immune system to prevent, control, and eliminate cancer. Immunotherapy is sometimes also called immuno-oncology.

There are several types of immunotherapies, and each works differently to enhance your immune systemโ€™s response to cancer. This can involve providing your body with additional tools to enhance your immune response, such as proteins or antibodies, and/or boosting your existing immune cells to help them eliminate cancer.

Many immunotherapy treatments can also be used in combination with surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or other targeted therapies to prevent, manage, and treat different cancers.
