Meet Lauren, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Registered Art Therapist, dual-licensed in Georgia and California. With 12 years in behavioral health and nearly 8 years as a therapist, she brings deep compassion, creativity, and expertise to her work.
What drove you to become a therapist?
"I grew up in what I lovingly call an "emotionally constipated" family in a restrictive environment where I never quite felt safe to be myself. Being a socially awkward, neurodivergent, q***r kid from a weird religion nobody understood or tolerated did not help. So when I went to college and secretly met with a therapist on my own at 19, it truly was the very first time I felt seen and received with patience and acceptance by anyone. The power of therapy was transformative for me, and continued to be throughout my 20s as I stumbled through my own mental health recovery journey."
In her practice, she leads with unconditional positive regard, highlighting every personâs strengths and potential. She integrates art therapy, brainspotting, mindfulness, and skill-building to help clients grow confidence and trust in themselves.
Today, grounded in her own transformation, she aims to walk beside each client with belief, respect, and hopeâthrough every season, even the darkest ones.

We had a wonderful experience connecting with Georgiaâs College Counselors at this yearâs GCCA Conference.
With seminars on a variety of topics (including Eating Disorders, the benefits of committing to an âOpen Doorâ counseling policy, and the devastating impact of Social Isolation), it was an eye-opening and invigorating experience. We also loved seeing our colleagues from Saint Simons by the Sea!

Coastal Harbor Health System offers compassionate care when you or your loved ones need it most. Our two state-of-the art facilities, Coastal Behavioral Health and Coastal Harbor Treatment Center, are conveniently located in Savannah, Georgia, but we accept patients from many states across the country.
Coastal Behavioral Health
Coastal Behavioral Health serves men and women, ages 18 and up, with high quality, affordable mental health services. If you or your loved one are in need of guidance to address emotional, psychiatric or substance abuse problems, our team of psychiatric nurses, certified addiction counselors, discharge planners, recreational therapists and psychiatrists specializing in adult psychiatry and addiction medicine are here to help.
Coastal Behavioral Health offers both outpatient and acute inpatient programs to address the varying treatment needs. Our 50-bed acute inpatient hospital is designed to help those in crisis who may need a safe and secure environment in which to begin their recovery.
Coastal Harbor Treatment Center
Coastal Harbor Treatment Center youth treatment facilities serve children and adolescents, ages 4 to 17, with short-term or long-term inpatient care to cope with crisis situations or ongoing behavioral, mental or emotional difficulties. For some, growing up can be a challenge, and when it becomes unmanageable, the experts at Coastal Harbor Treatment Center are here to help. We also provide therapeutic foster care placement for children in need of short-term care from a loving family.
As a Joint Commission-Accredited behavioral health facility, our outpatient and inpatient health facilities in Georgia delivers exceptional, affordable education and treatment in a safe and secure 114-bed facility that is privately owned and operated.
