🥶🔥 HOW TO STAY WARM DURING WINTER STORMS
— WITHOUT OVERLOADING THE POWER GRID 🔌❄️

✔️ Set thermostats responsibly
Keep your thermostat at a consistent, efficient temperature. Avoid turning it up high; recommended not to exceed 68 degrees—this doesn’t heat your home faster and strains the grid.

✔️ Use layers, not just heaters
Wear warm layers, socks, and hats indoors. Blankets and sleeping bags help retain body heat without using electricity.

✔️ Close off unused rooms
Shut doors to rooms you’re not using to concentrate heat where you need it most.

✔️ Seal in the heat
Close curtains and blinds at night. Use towels or draft blockers along doors and windows to keep cold air out.

✔️ Use space heaters safely (if needed)
If using space heaters, use only one per outlet, do not use extension cords, keep them away from flammable items, and turn them off when unattended.

✔️ Limit high-energy appliances
Avoid running dryers, ovens, and dishwashers during peak demand times.

✔️ Open curtains during daylight
Let natural sunlight help warm your home during the day.

✔️ Plan for outages
Have extra blankets, flashlights, batteries, and a backup heat plan ready in case power is lost.

💡 Small actions by many can help prevent outages and keep everyone safer during extreme cold.

Let's take a closer look at Electrocardiograms
What is it, what does it do, and why should we all have one?

An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a quick, painless test that records the heart's electrical activity, showing how fast it beats, its rhythm, and the timing of its chambers squeezing, which helps doctors diagnose issues like arrhythmias, heart attacks, heart failure, or heart damage by using sticky patches (electrodes) placed on the skin connected to a machine.

What it does

- Measures the electrical signals that cause each heartbeat.
- Checks for irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias).
- Identifies if the heart is overworked or damaged.
- Monitors heart rate and rhythm.

How it works

- Small, sticky patches are attached to your chest, arms, and legs.
- Wires link these electrodes to an ECG machine.
- The machine records your heart's electrical signals as a line graph, showing the electrical waves.
- You lie still and breathe normally during the brief test.

No one wants to hear "Code Blue".
Electrocardiograms help identify potential issues with your heart.
