In Loving Memory of Mrs. Frances Jean Simpson
October 15, 1937 – April 10, 2026

It is with heavy hearts, yet humble submission to the will of God, that we announce the passing of our beloved Mrs. Frances Jean Simpson, who peacefully departed this life on April 10, 2026, at the age of 88.

Mrs. Simpson was a woman of unwavering faith, grace, strength, and quiet warmth. She lived a life rooted in love and devotion, reflecting God’s light through her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit. Her presence was a blessing to all who knew her, and her legacy of faith and love will continue to shine for generations to come.

She leaves behind to carry on her legacy: her devoted daughter, Mrs. Theresa Miller; her cherished grandchildren, Mr. Chris Moody, Sr. (Kera), Mr. Jamell Miller, Sr., Mr. Jamario Miller (Jene), Chris Moody, Jr., Malik Moody, Christaysia Moody, Christina Moody, Te’yana Miller, David Miller, Jalicia Miller, Jamell Miller, Jr., Jamario Miller, Jr., and Jamani Miller; her two special sisters, Beryl Dandy and Beverly Orr; her beloved cousins, Kenneth Dandy (Terri) and Janice Dandy-Harris; along with a host of other loving family members and dear friends.

Though she has entered into eternal rest, we rejoice in the promise of God’s word, knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

“Well done, thy good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” – Matthew 25:23

We find comfort in knowing that her soul now rests in eternal peace, and her love will remain in our hearts forever.

Born on February 24, 1963, Denece grew up between Washington, D.C. and Miami, Florida. She later attended college near Asheville, North Carolina, where she earned a degree in Art Therapy – an early reflection of the creativity and compassion that would define her life. Denece found joy in many forms of artistic expression, most notably through her love of working with flowers. Her creativity and deep appreciation for the natural world blossomed into a career crafting stunning floral arrangements that touched countless lives. Her nurturing spirit shone brightly in this role leaving a lasting impact on those she helped.

Over the years, Denece formed deep and lasting friendships, many of which grew into chosen family. Her warmth, generosity, and kindness left an imprint on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Douglas "Doug" White

Douglas “Doug” White died peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, in Savannah, Georgia, after a long and hard-fought second battle with cancer. When it returned, Doug faced it the same way he lived his life: head-on, with a little humor and undeniable strength.

Originally from Macon, GA. Doug spent the last 26 years of his life on and around Tybee Island, where he became nothing short of a legend. To many, he was a familiar face behind the bar at the Windrose and later the Sandbar. For countless newcomers to Tybee, Doug was often their first friend—one who welcomed them in, made them feel at home, and kept them coming back. He had a way of making people feel seen; his gruff exterior was matched only by his warm heart.

Connection was at the heart of who Doug was, and music was one of the ways he shared it. An esteemed musician, Doug played bass guitar with both skill and soul. He had a deep love for the arts and a particular appreciation for antiques and folk art. He was drawn to pieces with history, character, and a story to tell—much like the people he surrounded himself with.

Doug also found connection in online gaming where he took great pride in building and creating. He formed lasting friendships with those he played alongside, especially with his close-knit group who spent countless hours together in Red Dead Redemption and 7 Days to Die. Among them, he will be remembered as a stew-eating “Westicle.” Whether through music, conversation, or the spaces he helped shape, Doug carried a quiet reverence for creativity and expression that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Beneath the rough-around-the-edges demeanor was a man with a generous heart, someone who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He was known for his sharp wit, his unmistakable presence, and honest advice. Doug’s absence will be deeply felt across Tybee Island and beyond, but his legacy will live on through the stories, friendships, and the community he helped build.

Doug is survived by his son, Dustin Ray White; his brother, Daniel “Buffy” White; and his sisters, Donna Cannon and Denise Walker.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
