Heart arrhythmias are disruptions in a regular heart rhythm, which can include slow, irregular or fast heart beats. Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) is the most commonly diagnosed heart arrhythmia. If left untreated, it can seriously impact your quality of life and lead to blood clots, heart failure or stroke.

Dr. Todd Senn, Memorial Health cardiac electrophysiologist says smart watch technology is now helping detect AFib for many watch wearers. Such is the case for Daniel Smith. What began as Smith’s want for a “fancy new watch” saved his life when the watch alerted him to abnormal arrhythmia and led him to visit to Dr. Senn for treatment.

Listen to his story on this WTOC-TV interview:

Memorial Health says a smart watch alerted a patient about a dangerous heart condition.
