Today we recognize National Caregivers Day and the incredible humans behind what it means to give care. 💞

Caregivers don’t all carry the same title. Some are nurses, doctors, therapists, chiropractors, and healthcare professionals showing up every day for their patients.

Others are moms and dads, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, and friends quietly caring for someone they love. Some of you stepped into this role by choice…others had it placed in your hands overnight. Regardless of how you became a caregiver, WE SEE YOU!

Caregiving is deeply meaningful work, but it can also be overwhelming, emotional, and lonely at times.

WE SEE the long days, the hard decisions, and THE MOMENTS NO ONE ELSE NOTICES — the rides to appointments, the stress and tears, the emotional strain, and the sleepless nights.

Most importantly, WE SEE YOUR STRENGTH and the toughness that it takes to keep showing up even when you’re beyond exhausted. WE SEE THE LOVE and the incredible never-give-up tenacity.

If you’re a caregiver in any form, please know this: WE SEE YOU AND YOU MATTER TOO.

Your health, your support, and your well-being are critical. YOU are the foundation of the care you deliver.

CARING FOR YOURSELF IS JUST AS IMPORTANT as the person you care for.

Today — and every day — we want you to know that you are seen!

We appreciate YOU and you are not alone! We are here to support you with tools, resources, compassion, and a community that understands your journey.

With Love and Gratitude,
The entire MedCOR Professionals Team

Please feel free to share this post and tag a caregiver who deserves a little extra recognition today.

Are your arthritic knees nagging you? Does your knee ever "give out" or cause enough pain to make you limp?

If so, it's a good idea to see your medical provider to get to the bottom of what's going on.

Depending on your individual case, conservative approaches might help avoid surgery. Strengthening and a good supportive brace can often help "keep you in the game" whether it's pickleball, skiing, going for a walk, or playing with the grandkids.

We see quite a few people each week who are referred to us for support with osteoarthritis (OA) and knee pain.

In our experience, the OA line of braces from Thuasne USA are very effective with consistently positive outcomes...

✅ Joint protection for tendons and ligaments
✅ Pain relief
✅ Confidence

Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the fibrous tissue (plantar fascia) along the bottom of your foot that connects your heel bone to your toes.

It is characterized by foot and heel pain that is often described as worse in the morning.

Treatment may include stretching exercises, and night splints to help maintain a neutral posture while sleeping.

One of the most effective treatments for plantar faciitis is which uses sound pulses to decrease pain, improve motion, and promote healing.

Check out this video from Ortho Eval Pal for more on plantar faciitis with a great tip on what to do first thing in the morning before that painful first step!

It's common for people to visit us here at MedCOR Professionals when they come in to get fitted and trained on how to use crutches after an injury or surgery. 🏒🎾🏈🥍🏂⛷

Previously, we shared a video on how to use crutches when NON-weight bearing.

📽This video from our good friend Paul Marquis of Ortho Eval Pal does a great job of explaining how to use crutches when you need to be PARTIAL-Weight bearing on that injured side.

Partial weight bearing means only putting "some" weight on the affected leg. Your provider may suggest a specific percentage of weight like "50% weight bearing" or they may simply advise that you only touch down lightly with your toe. (toe touch weight bearing)

Paul is an exceptional PT and a Maine native. As a fellow small business owner here in Maine, we share Paul's passion for helping others both locally and beyond!

With the in full swing, the unfortunate crashes and injuries of US skier Lindsey Vonn have made knee injuries like tears a hot topic right now.

ACL tears of the knee are a common injury among athletes and active individuals.

ACL stands for Anterior Cruciate Ligament, which is a ligament in the knee that connects the femur (thighbone) to the tibia (shinbone). It often requires surgical intervention to repair when torn.

ACL injuries are most common during sports that involve sudden stops and changes in direction, such as football, basketball, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. We also see the injury with skiers, hikers, and workers with physically demanding jobs.

Regardless of how the injury occurs, it's important to have support from your healthcare provider such as a , , , or .

For example, this video from Ortho Eval Pal demonstrates one specific test for an ACL tear. https://youtu.be/4Nn6IyEW5X8?si=lQiE7V8VY0ol2nG

After an injury, completing rehab and a strengthening program under the guidance of a is a great idea. And whether you're an elite athlete or live a more sedentary lifestyle, those who commit to their rehab and the home exercises prescribed by their provider will undoubtedly see better outcomes.

Here at MedCOR Professionals, we often see folks who are prescribed a brace like the Rebel Ligament brace from Thuasne USA to protect the knee after an injury and occasionally to protect from an ACL injury from occurring to begin with.
