🤡 Celebrating Our Activity Professionals! 🤠

January 23 is National Activity Professionals Day, and January 26–30 is National Activity Professionals Week, and we are proud to recognize this amazing team for the wide range of experiences they bring to our residents every day.

From creative arts and crafts, games, and special celebrations to outings, music, one-on-one visits, and sensory programming, their work touches every aspect of resident life. They also incorporate recreational therapy, helping to support physical movement, cognitive stimulation, emotional well-being, and meaningful social connection.

Their dedication ensures that each resident has opportunities to stay engaged, express themselves, and continue doing the things they love. The variety, thoughtfulness, and care behind their programming truly enrich the lives of those we serve.

🌟 Congratulations to Sandra Illingworth! 🌟

We are thrilled to celebrate Sandra Illingworth, Speech-Language Pathologist, on receiving the Excellence in Long Term Care Award from the Maine Health Care Association (MHCA). This honor is part of MHCA’s annual recognition program (2025), and only 20 healthcare professionals across the entire state of Maine were selected. What an incredible and well-deserved achievement!

For more than a decade, Sandra has been a guiding force of compassion, innovation, and advocacy for our residents. Her impact reaches far beyond traditional speech therapy. She has championed evidence-based practices, helped establish meaningful programs like music and memory, led Parkinson’s support groups, and worked tirelessly to ensure residents feel heard, respected, and empowered.

Sandra’s patience, ability to build trust, and dedication to resident dignity are often recognized by families and coworkers alike. She listens deeply, supports thoughtfully, and brings people together in ways that truly enhance quality of life. Her leadership and mentorship have strengthened our entire care team and raised the standard of excellence within our home.

This award reflects not only Sandra’s professional expertise, but her heart for service and her unwavering commitment to the people she cares for every day. We are incredibly proud to see her recognized at the state level and so grateful to have her as part of the MVH family.

❤️🎄One of our favorite traditions is our Annual Christmas Party, and this year’s celebration brought all the joy! Residents, families, staff, and friends gathered to enjoy delicious treats, music, and of course… a visit from Santa! 🎅✨

🎻❄️ On Christmas Eve, our residents gathered together for a beautiful violin (and strings!) concert while the snow gently fell outside. Thank you to these talented musicians for sharing their gifts and bringing this sweet experience to our Home.
