If you’ve ever dealt with bladder leaks, you’ve probably been told:

“Just do your Kegels.”

But here’s what many people don’t realize is that Kegels don't always solve the problem. And in some cases, they can actually make symptoms worse.

Incontinence isn’t just about weakness. It can be related to:

✨ Pelvic floor coordination
✨ Breathing patterns
✨ Core support
✨ How your body handles pressure during movement

In our latest blog post, we break down:
✔️ When kegels actually help
✔️ When they don’t
✔️ What to do instead

If you’ve been doing kegels and not seeing results, this will help you understand why and what your body may actually need.

If you're looking for personalized support, pelvic floor physical therapy can help you get to the root of what’s going on.

Your pelvic floor might need relaxation, not strengthening.

You might have been told to “just do more Kegels”…
but that’s not always what your body needs.

A pelvic floor that stays tight or overactive can show up as pain, tension, or difficulty fully relaxing.

The goal isn’t always to strengthen. It’s to find balance, coordination, and support.

✨ Pelvic floor physical therapy can help you understand what your body needs

Managing endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain often requires more than one approach.

Nutrition and lifestyle support, combined with therapies like Pelvic Floor Therapy and Acupuncture, can have a powerful impact, helping to reduce symptom severity, support the body’s natural healing processes, and improve overall quality of life.

Pelvic Floor Therapy helps restore the function, flexibility, strength, and coordination of the pelvic floor muscles and reducing pain and improving daily function.

Acupuncture is another supportive therapy that can help with pain relief, inflammation reduction, cycle support, and stress regulation.

When combined with restorative movement and stress management, these approaches can help break the cycle that perpetuates symptoms.

At Root To Rise, our team of pelvic floor therapists and acupuncturists work collaboratively to provide integrative care and support you on your endometriosis journey. 💛

You are not supposed to leak, push through pelvic pain, or constantly search for the nearest bathroom.

These symptoms are so common, but they are not normal and they’re often signs that your pelvic floor needs attention.

Your pelvic floor is part of your core system, supporting your bladder, bowel, hips, and s*xual health. When it’s not functioning well, symptoms can show up in ways people often dismiss or normalize.

Pelvic floor physical therapy can help.

You deserve to:
✨ Exercise without leaking
✨ Move without pelvic pressure or pain
✨ Feel comfortable and confident in your body

If any of these symptoms sound familiar, you don’t have to navigate them alone.

👉 Book an evaluation to get to the root of your symptoms.

Endometriosis is complex and treating symptoms alone isn’t enough.

A root-cause approach means looking deeper at what’s driving the pain and dysfunction, not just masking symptoms.

Because endometriosis can affect multiple systems in the body, the best care often involves a team approach.

Your care team might include:
✨ a skilled endometriosis surgeon
✨ pelvic floor physical therapy
✨ pain specialists
✨ GI or urology providers
✨ mental health support
✨ nutrition support

Pelvic floor therapy is an important part of this team. Chronic pelvic pain can cause the pelvic floor muscles to become tight, guarded, and dysfunctional, which can contribute to ongoing symptoms.

When providers collaborate and address the whole picture, patients receive better support, better outcomes, and a better quality of life.

You deserve care that looks beyond symptoms and supports your whole body.

Local movement instructors! Most certification programs barely touch on pelvic health, yet many of your clients are dealing with it.

Have you ever had a client mention leaking, core weakness, or pelvic pain during exercise and wondered how best to support them?

I’m planning a workshop called:

Pelvic Health Considerations for Movement Instructors

Designed for yoga teachers, pilates instructors, barre instructors, personal trainers, spin instructors and other movement professionals who want to better support clients who may be experiencing things like:

• leaking during exercise
• core weakness or diastasis
• pregnancy or postpartum recovery
• pelvic pain or pressure
• low back, hip, or tailbone pain

We’ll talk about things like:
– pelvic floor supportive cueing
– common symptoms instructors may notice in class
– movement considerations and modifications
– when to refer to pelvic health PT/OT

This workshop will be in person and space will be limited.

👉 If you're interested in attending, DM me your email if you’d like to be notified when registration opens!

Tag a local movement instructor friend who might be interested!

I'm SO excited for this!!!

Period pain is common but that doesn’t mean it’s normal. During endometriosis awareness month, we’re sharing signs your period pain may be something more.

7 signs your period might not be normal:

• pain that stops you from going to work, school, or normal activities
• needing strong pain medication just to function
• pain that starts before your period or lasts after it ends
• pain with s*x
• pain with bowel movements or urination during your cycle
• heavy bleeding or severe bloating (“endo belly”)
• ongoing pelvic, hip, or low back pain

Many people with endometriosis are told their symptoms are “just bad periods.” in reality, the average diagnosis can take 7–10 years.

At root to rise, we take an integrative, whole-body approach to pelvic health addressing pelvic floor function, movement, the nervous system, and collaborating with other providers to support long-term healing.

If this sounds familiar, know that your pain is real and you deserve answers and we are here to support you. 💛
